I read in some signatures that some people modify the air box. How? I did cut small holes in my box with the dodge I had, but could not see a difference. Is this what you all are doing?

Do a search on swisscheese. There are some good pics of it. Any Q's particular Q's though let us know.

Make sure you just hack on the front of the box so its not wanting to suck hot engin air.

I did the swiss cheese treatment to mine Early on, and like you, I did not notice any difference. And when I say I swiss cheesed it, I mean that I removed most of the front and passenger side of the air box, then removed the foil/tape piece on the passenger inter fender.

But some seem to think it helps, and perception is what it`s all abouthttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif

Ok I did the search, and found tons of good reading, but what is the resinator hose? Any pictures so I wont screw this up. I am slowly learning the Duramax.

Turbo noisehttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cool.gifhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cool.gifhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cool.gif Still dont sing like a cummins or a strokehttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cry.gif

I tried running with and without the resonator on there and didnt notice andy change. The big plastic thing that says dmax 6600 is what I am talking about.

Its tons easier to get the idea if you yank the box off your truck and look at it. If you cant find any pics of the deal I should be able to get some tonight.

Well right now I dont want to spend the money on the kit. I am trying to add wheels to the truck. I did cheese up the box yesterday, and remove the insulation pad from the fender. I could not tell much. I have not taken the resinator off yet. MAybe today if I can find something to cover the air line. ANy suggestions.

I capped mine with some duct-tape to see if it made a difference. I figured if it did I would find a plug, otherwise I wouldnt bother searching.

I too couldnt justify 200$ just for more noise and no real power gain....

I have the LLY and cut the air box up a bit with a drop in K&N and it has a lil more turbo whistle but not obnoxious (sp?) . It does seem to have more power and less lag but would be hard to notice 5-10 hp or whatever that might add. Kennedy Diesel has a good pic of it in the Duramax section.
