: Best way to lift rear 4 inches on a '06 2500HD 2WD crew cab short bed?
06DMAX00CAMSS 08-21-2006, 07:09 PM Looking to lift the rear of the truck 4 inches total. Its for a '06 2500HD LBZ 2WD crew cab short bed with 2 piece driveshaft. Looking to retain or improve quality in ride, strength, payload, towing capacity, driveline angles, etc. Thanks in advance.
BigCountry 08-21-2006, 07:58 PM Do they make a shackle flip for your truck? You could retain the factory springs and not run blocks this way. If not, some custom deaver or Alcan springs would be best.
WhippledHD 08-21-2006, 11:42 PM Call Jeff at Deaver Springs in Orange. They can build you a set of lifted rear springs that will ride better and smoother than stock. Then get a set of Firestone or Airlift air bags. Air up the bags for towing, air down for a much smoother ride when empty. I have run this set-up on my last three trucks and it works like a charm towing the boat, the toy hauler, and as my daily driver. Springs are about $500 and the bags about $200. Stay away from lift blocks if you can. If not look into a set of traction bars to help reduce the axl wrap.
Good luck,
Chris
How much are you lifting the front?
BTW, you can get a set of 4" lift blocks form several lift kit companies that have the proper taper built into them.
06DMAX00CAMSS 08-22-2006, 10:25 AM BigCountry, I do not know if they make a shackle kit for my truck.
WhippledHD, what sizes does Deaver offer for my truck? Reason I ask is because if I get something custom made and then if ever down the road I want to put my truck back to stock, it maybe be hard to get rid of the custom springs. I figured there has to be something out there already premade that will suit me well.
afp1, the front is already lifted. I used 4" CST spindles and then cranked the torsion bars about an inch. I haven't decided yet if I'm going to leave the torsion bars where they are, decrank them, or crank them some more. I want to go 4 inches in the rear for sure though.
Lift blocks will be the simplest way. You could use a combination of add-a-leaf and lift blocks as well.

ORD makes a shackle flip for your application
http://offroaddesign.com/catalog/shacklekit.htm
06DMAX00CAMSS 08-22-2006, 08:36 PM So my options are:
-4" block with the correct taper in it
-Combination of add-a-leafs and block
-Deaver springs and a airbag kit
-Shakle flip kit
Which one of these will lift the truck, retain or improve ride quality, strength, payload, towing, and have minimal squat?

Deaver springs and most of all Air bags
GMC2500HD 08-22-2006, 08:56 PM How many times and different ways are you going to ask the same question??? Just wondering. I think you would have figured this out by now or call one of the 20 4WD shops in Houston to get this done already. Pardon my forwardness but the yellow pages and a lift shop around here will make this much easier on you..
06DMAX00CAMSS 08-22-2006, 09:13 PM Anyone have personal experience with the shackle flip kits? Looks like a good product, but can't say for sure as I've never used them.
BigCountry 08-22-2006, 10:37 PM Never seen a shackle flip on an HD, but it is THE way to go on K5's and crews of the 67 - 87 (91) pickups. Gives better articulation for sure, and retains the factory ride. I have one on my K5 so I do have some experience.
BTW - In case your wondering, ORD is top notch, all their products are BEEF!
noproblem 08-22-2006, 11:24 PM Easiest way to do what you want to do is,
Put you some 38's on the arse end.
Put you some 30's on the front end.
Lower the t bars.
This will give you an exact reduction of height from Arse end to front end of 4", in your head and visually it will look like you lifted the rear 4".
It will be real cheap also, no point in shopping around. It might just look schweeeeeeeeeeet:ro) :ro) :ro) :ro) :ro) :ro) :ro) :ro)
rolloffhill 08-22-2006, 11:35 PM so you have a 4" lift and you wanna raise 4" more in just the rear?
So that is gonna look like **** no?
4" lift in the front and 8" in the rear?????-:t
emerson 08-22-2006, 11:39 PM :muahaha: :muahaha: Easiest way to do what you want to do is,
Put you some 38's on the rear, replace the rears with 30's on the front, that an lowe your t bars. This will give you an exact reduction of front end of 4", in your head and visually it will look like you lifted the rear 4".

06DMAX00CAMSS 08-23-2006, 06:51 PM No, I have 4" CST lift spindles in the front, cranked torsion bars 1", and 3" lift blocks in the rear. I want to go an inch higher in the rear for a total of 4 inches and I was wondering what the best way to accomplish this. In other words, I want another inch of lift for a total of 4 inches and was wondering the best way to achieve this as I'm doing away with my current 3" block.
fool32696 08-23-2006, 07:01 PM you could keep your 3" block and throw in an add-a-leaf for about another inch of lift and a total of 4"
06DMAX00CAMSS 08-23-2006, 07:09 PM Well it seems that from what I've read and been told, the lift blocks are the easiest and cheapest way to lift the rear, however, it affects the quality in the ride. It also changes the driveline angle and something else about the spring being flat. So obviously if money isn't an issue, lift blocks aren't the recommended way to lift the rear. So I'm looking for an alternative.
rolloffhill 08-23-2006, 08:59 PM It seems to me that you are never gonna be satisfied with your lift...why don't you just shell out the cash and get a 6" lift and be done with it???
06DMAX00CAMSS 08-23-2006, 10:25 PM 4" lift and 35s is the combo I want to run. I don't want to go any higher/bigger than that as this is my daily driver and diesel isn't cheap.

So how is it that you bought a 4" lift but don't have a 4" lift????
06DMAX00CAMSS 08-23-2006, 11:01 PM The rear only got a 3" lift, the front is what went up 4 inches, actually 5 once I cranked the torsion bars. So now the rear is only 1/2" higher than the front and I want at least an inch. I don't want to decrank the bars as I think my tires won't clear.
