98 6.5 1500 'Burb with 167K miles. Get a vibe that starts about 62-65 MPH, usually at the same spots on the highway. When the vibes start, if I pull a little left or right so one set of tires is riiding more on the middle of the lane than the normal "two track" does help slightly. I tried R&Ring the dshaft ujoints, but couldn't get the internal retaining rings out last night. The caps on the axle yoke were still well greased with no obvoius play. Tonight I'm hoping to jack the front up to check wheel bearings and TREs.

Is there something in particular I should focus on?

Sounds like you are checking all the right places.

Shocks and wheel balance.

The shocks look to be the originals, and the ride is getting a bit bouncy, so a replacement is prolly in order. But I can't see the tires being out of balance, if they were, wouldn't the vibes be constant (provided I was in that sweet spot for tire imbalance)?

Who knows. Balances are funny things. Simply changing the load on a tire will change its point of resonance.

Anytime you are fighting a vibe problem, you should have the wheels balanced, if for no other reason that to be able to fully eliminate them as a source of the vibration.

Tire pressures all the same? Also have a question. If you you put it in 4Hi could you eliminate anything?

Have the wheels and tires match balanced. Try to find one of those new hunter balancing machines. If you go to Hunter's website and punch in your zip code they can tell you the closest place. My Miata had the same problem.
