Hey guys,
I am relatively new to the diesel world. So far my truck just has the Hypertech programmer set on the 90hp setting. I have just ordered my AFE intake kit. What I am wanting to know is that will those things along with a good 4" exhaust make this truck a quick beast? People have told me that the Juice Edge module will do alot more than the Hypertech but, I dont want my Allison tranny to take a crap on me. I have read that the Edge backs off the power when reaching 5th gear, is this true? Also, if I get the edge and set it on lets say the 4th power setting, my tranny will no go into limp mode because the edge wont let it? I just want some light shed here, thats all.
Thanks,
Chad

With a free flow exhaust and a higher CFM flow air cleaner faster spool up of the turbo and lower EGT's will be obtained ...
The Hypertech although has it's place in the market nothing I've seen so far beats the Juice ....
The Edge in the 90 HP max setting works very well with in the capabilities of the Allison transmission ...
It works with in the designed Torque management by defueling in shifts ... Some don't appreciate it ,but if you aren't a drag racer you and your Alley will be very happy ...

Mac,
Have you went to higher setting's on your edge yet? If so, how did the Allison tranny handle it? I am thinking about getting the Juice based on the Hypertech doesnt monitor the Allison transmission. What is your thoughts on that?
Thank-you,
Chad

Okay, I didnt notice that. I am considering the Edge but dont want this tranny throwing itself in limp mode. Of couse I could just lock overdrive out when I want to really have fun. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Evil Smile.gif

Stay with the Edge with Attitude ....stick with Level 4 for the 90 HP tune and stay out of the 120 HP/Level 5.........................
The tranny will probably hold up if you exhibit self control........
If not...........give JOE WEBB at Suncoast a call or speak to Clint at ATS or Steve Cole at TTS Performance.
All three offer tranny upgrades.
Good Luck......
