It's not the quantity, but the quality that counts! I personally only know two Duramax owners, and they both think I'm nuts with all I've done to my truck let alone learn more here. Not all of us Duramaxers realize what we have. HEY Patrick, you gonna be our local hopped up injector installer?Edited by: motovet

As it is a state park it has a fee etc. I believe there are full hookups for RV's. I don't know if there would be any place for reving up motors or anything. I have attended car club cruise in's there in the past.

OK, I have found a couple of camp grounds that look good and welcome groups with meeting area etc. Columbia River Rv park has the weekends of 9/11-12 and 9/25-26 open and will put a group together. Portland/Woodburn has the same weekends open and has an excellent set up for groups as well as being next door to a large outlet mall and close to the NW truck museum. Other possible parks are Portland/Fairview and Vancouver rv park. So any one local ever check these parks out? I am not far away, but never have camped around Portland. So what do you all think? If we want to do this we should get it figured out soon to book sites and give people time to plan.

motovet
08-17-2004, 07:23 PM
Well? The above mentioned parks have room for a bunch of us now, but that will change as time goes on. I figure if we can decide on a park we post it here and maybe on the gathering thread and let those that want to show reserve on a firt come first serve basis. So anyone been at any of these parks? The best ones I think as far as capacity and amenities are Portland/Fairview and Portland/Woodburn. At the very least a few of us would be staying at a nice park and shoot the sh**t. Best case would be a bunch of us, maybe do a potluck or two, and whatever. So lets pick the place and weekend to get it posted and see what happens.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Clap.gif

Bluejay

I live very close to the Woodburn park (10 miles or so), and know that is is very nice. It is near the factory stores and a couple of new restaurants etc. The Oregon Gardens and Silver Creek Falls are not too far away. The park has full hookups. Perhaps I could drop in and get a few more details.

Also it is very busy. There are many pull thru's and some smaller back in sights. Each of us will need to make a reservation on our own.

First, however it needs to be decided if it will happen or not. How do we determine that? Also, we are still waiting to hear from Patrick.

How many here want to go? I just talked to the park and they only have 10 spots now for that weekend, but are holding them through Monday. If more want to go I found some others that will take more and they are also nice. I will not be back on line myself untill Sunday PM.

Hey Motovet and Tophog and other Northwest people,

I have been waiting for patrick to come back with confirmation on a time and place for our get together, but he seems to have disappeared. My bet is you are and others are waiting to hear from him also. At this point my suggestion is that we postpone the get together to another time. What do you think?

Jay, Patrick did PM me Friday and said go ahead and post something as he is extremely busy. So the Woodburn campground will only have 10 spots max for the 10/11 or 24/25 weekends. Another campground that looked good and is highly rated was the Columbia River RV park in Vancouver..have you seen this one Jay? This one would be more laid back and have more room for late reservations, and could even block an area for us for a while. Maybe this one would be a better choice?...there are a few on the other page that would probably go as well. Darrell

I answered you in the other post also. Champoeg Park has large group areas as well as easy access to I-5. Overnight camping is available. Somone would probably have to call and make arrangements. I think it is located under Oregon State Parks on the internet. There is food and lodging within 6 miles and for the outlet mall shoppers it is about 12 miles. Also there is plenty of day usage space for activities as well as river access with a dock for the boating crowd.

Don't postpone just do it!

Hiya Folks!

I just caught this topic. I am a relative newcomer from British Columbia - so I guess I can definitely put my hand up for the Northwest!

Anyone else here from BC?

I really think we would have many more options if we went to Champoeg State Park. Also, I would favor the Sept. 25-26 dates. I will be on vacation for a week begining Thursday, but I hope to have time to visit Champoeg and check it out before I leave. However, whatever the group want to do is OK with me.

Champoeg has group space for six rigs with a few scattered single sites on 9/10-11 and 10/1-2 only. They want up front deposit for the group sites and not many are available in total. I agree this place looks good for groups, but would need to be done more in advance....place looks popular. I will also go for 9/24-26, so for that weekend we could get 10 spots at the Woodburn park or 20+ at the Columbia River park. At this point I would just assume go with the Columbia park with more room and let those that want to show put in their own reservation. They have a rec hall available if we would want a pot luck or whatever and the park is rated highly by Trailer Life. Isn't this exhausting?

Motovet,

Yes, it is tough trying to figure out all the details of any get together. The Vancouver park sounds best at this point, because I think we need the potential of more than 6 sites (Champoeg) or even 10 at Woodburn. Shall we officially declare that our Northwest get together will be the weekend of Sept. 24 to 26 at Vancouver RV Park? If so, we need to get an idea of who might be able to attend.

I am ready to go with the Vancouver park on 9/24-25 weekend. We can get a general area blocked off for a while and there is more room. Say the word and I will post this on the gathering forum and reach a few from the other page...some are already here. I will also make my reservation tonight or in the AM if this is good. Anyone been to this park?..rated well but no web sight.Edited by: motovet

I have not been there but it sounds OK. Go ahead and post. We need to get a new thread going anyway.

Me and my buddy both own Duramax's up here in Beaverton, OR. We also have a little business and I mean little, that we are starting up for Diesel Performance parts. If any one is interested shoot me a PM and we can talk.

Well, after scanning thru just the folks who replied here, and a few other post, seems to me, the majority are from the left coast mostly Nor Cal and further north with a smattering of folks from the midwest ( most west of the Mississippi) and ONE from NC besides myself.

So here goes, I am a newbie to this board, I do NOT own a Dmax, BUT I do work on them. ( I actually own 2 Toyota trucks and a Honda )

I am a light/medium duty diesel tech at a Chev. dealer in Raleigh NC.
I have the most Dmax experiance in our shop, have probably 20+ injector swaps under my belt now, assist on a HG replace ( seen one DMax with HG probs, and one Dmax wasted due to failure of rocker bridge at highspeed resulting in total engine replacment).

Do I know everything about the Duramax ? HELL no ! do I want too? yeah, or I wouldn't be here.

lots of info to digest, some I got to wonder why? most is useful.

good site to have, hope I can be as helpful as some of the info on this site.
