I have read the various posts regarding programmers and seem to be getting more and more confused . I need some help.....
Just the facts....
A. I live in Las Vegas where a 110 to 120 for days on end in the summer is not uncommon.
B. I will be towing an 8K toy hauler.
C. I do not want to go to the expense of guages (been there, done that. This is my 5th diesel and am very familiar with turbo cool down periods, towing, etc)
D. I am going to get Mike L's trans cooler, deep dish pan and synthetic oil for the trans.
E. I will never race this vehicle.
F.) I have 265/16 on stock wheels.
G.) I am going to get a turbo back exhaust.
With that said......
1.) The programmer that will probably live its life on "Tow" mode.
2.) I do not want to have to pull fuse to to use the programmer.
3.) I want a very safe upgrade.
4.) Better fuel mileage is very important (towing & not)
5.) No/very little smoke.
I am just looking for the extra oomph that doesn't cause issues or grief
Suggestions and the best pricing?? Any help is appreciated!:)

DiabloSport Predator.... Your $%*^'d on the #2 requirement though, Get used to it! Are you afraid to remove them the one time that you program it?!! It's not like you'll be going from tow to stock daily:confuzeld

I would not be concerned about pulling fuses.

I would also point you to the predator. The Superchips flashpak doesn't tell you to remove fuses, but I always remove the info fuse (On Star) just to be safe. I had the flsahpak installed on my truck when I took a 6000 mile vacation in May. I got between 19.5 & 22mpg (no trailer) with mostly highway driving. I went from Flagstaff to Vegas and then home (MN) with no problems at all with the heat. It performed very well at 12000' in CO. I think the predator is smoother than the flashpak or power pup. The predator also has some live diagnostics, but not as good as the pre 06 models did.

Thanks for the kind words Tigert :D .
Yes, I am a little wigged out about pulling fuses, I seem to have problems when I put them back in.
How many do you have to pull to use the DiabloSport Predator? I had been leaning towards the Predator any anway.
Where is the least expensive place to get it?

The Predator is probably the way to go for you. While they recomend that you pull fuses, not everyone does. You MAY not need to if you don't have OnStar.
YMMV.

hypertec is also the most safest to use but you do have to pull the onstar chip while programming it...there is a great article in diesel builder magazine this month that has a lot of good info about the hypertec programmer 3

Bearsdad,
The guys are steering you the right direction, the Predator is what will work for you best overall. As far as the fuses the GM vehicles as a whole are much more sensitive to voltage changes when doing any programming. Lost of folks don't pull the fuses but it's safer if you do and it's not a big deal to do either. You shouldn't have any issues by pulling them at all. We do it here all the time with no problems what so ever!!
As far as pricing we have a policy to make sure you can buy from a site Sponsor and still get the best deal so let us know what you can find out there. Pricing is sort of a moving target on some items recently and there just isn't a way to be able to watch each and every competitior etc. Let us know if you need any help on questions etc

How come no one mentioned banks products? Is there smoething wrong with them or do they not work as well?
