How quiet should my LLY DMax be? Should it be as quiet as the Cummins 600? I scanned the computer, and the injector balance rates are all around 188 inches (not listed in %).

I think the cummins is a touch quieter at idle. The 04 cummins I road in today was louder all around in the cab. Edited by: Max Power

hmmm... One of the guys in the fire dept has a new Dodge/Cummins, and it is a LOT quieter... You basically can't hear it at idle. My DMax you can definatley hear at idle. It's not quite as loud as the 6.5 in my mother's bus, but I would say it's not drastically quieter... What data should I look for in the computer to tell if Pilot injection is functioning properly?

FWIW, here is the chart from the scan I did.

For anybody with exhaust, Can you hear the exhaust over the engine more at idle with the LLY than LB7? When I get one the pipe isn't staying on it. Duals,or anything.

I cut muffler off with 400 miles on it, Has slightly deeper tone at idle and driving in city traffic, on highway, no drone sounds like a gasser. I had 4 inch from turbo back on my '00 Powerstroke, and it was very loud all the time. The LLY with the cat and variable vane with out a muffler is subdued and pleasant, probably could be a little louder but all in all very pleased. Down the road I may install an '02 down pipe and see how she sounds without the cat.

Good to know, Hope I will hear some Duramax's sometime. All the ones I see are plain nothing done to them, And I hear Cummins everyday.
