I am currently building a drag truck and have heard that 2001 was the worst one to build due to software issues such as speed limiter and other parameters that cannot be changed in 01. Is this true? If so what are my options?

You can have the 01 ecm reflashed to another o.s. 2001 is not bad for a drag truck though.

Any suggestions? Where to send? Will efi live be the best thing to do?I am Cummins builder cutting my teeth on these trucks and do not want to keep changing the set up.It should be on the track in a week or so.I am very close.

EFILive will suit you for sure given it is a racing truck, chances are (like all racing vehicles) the modifications will never end, EFILive is the only way you will be able to continually retune for each modification, big or small.

If you get a 2001 ECM then you could use EFILive to update the ECM's program to 2003 if you wanted. Either way, you can also remove the limiter in 2001's.

There is several vendors who sponsor the Diesel Place who sell EFILive, it's probably best to contact one of them.
