Ok so some will think i've gone nuts here now but wait a minute.
I have my eyes on about a 5 ton truck and it just so happens to have the Cummins in it with the P-7100 pump, engine has somewhere near 335,000 km's on it. The truck is a van style unit that hauls around 4000 liters (1000 gallons) of water, has a steamer in it and a cat pump driven by an isuzu engine. I believe its a 94 year engine rated @ 190HP.
I'm thinking about purchasing this unit and putting it to work so what i'd really like to know is what kind of life can i expect out of the Cummins, still seems to be a good runner and doesn't use any oil. Max GVW i think was 14,440 KG's on the unit but weighs in slightly under that.
On a side note i've been tweeking the pane on the 94 in the 1500
Today i will be tweeking the IP a bit. :D
Maybe then DP won't call me a wimp! :p:

Saw a farmer's hot fueled 5.9 turn 309 HP on the dyno with the firrst generation engine like yours. I've called you a lot of names but I don't think it was wimp, maybe it was wimpy.:)
Riggers Rig blowing smoke soon.

If you ain't pull'n 400hp your a wimp. Saw an old farmer with a 90 model....
Nope i'm pretty sure it was a wimp.... lol
Anyways DP, i turned up the fuel, da boost screw just 1 turn as the cap was off before, da star wheel just 1/4 turn, but only got about 1/3 turn on the full power screw, can i just back that whole sucker out and remove the collar so i can get some more adjustment?
The pump has definately been turned up some before as the taper on the eccentric was turned about 1/3 from stock setting, of course its turned all the way now to run in the deepest part of the eccentric, cool mod and easy to do, could also see that the pin wasn't traveling all the way to the top of the eccentric, besides shaving that washer how can it be adjusted to travel all the way? :D
Its just to bad this truck has a standard in it really, cause when its time to shift outta second its just starting to break the tires loose

You can force the screw in and the collar will break the little spot weld or you can take the screw completly out and grind the spot weld off. Another way is to just throw the washer away and you should get plenty of fuel. Keep in mind your idle speed will increase. Back the high idle screw out a little to raise your Max rpm's if needed.
Check your linkage to. need to make sure your getting full throttle.:grd:

Tough to force that sucker in that awkward spot. Whats a safe rpm? Not sure here but i think it tachs out about 3300 acording to the dash tach. Linkage is good, hits the stop with the peddle to the floor.
I think there's something wrong with the exhaust manifold now though, its gettin grey'ish in a few spots between some rust.... lol

a govenor spring swap already, as my 12 valve defuels at 2500 rpm. I've seen NOS and Propane on the same truck and I hear it will really give you some power. I saw a newer Cummins with injectors, chip, propane, and NOS make nearly 900 hp. Do you know which injectors you have. I hear that a set of PODs will really light it up. Of course you can still add twins, and you can get more fuel out of your pump. Here is a sweet thread on the TDR forum. This guy is making a ton of HP over 500 with a motor just like yours.

Safe rpm is about 100 rpm before it drops a valve.
If you hold your foot in it longer the rust spots will disappear.
Hold it longer than that and your exhaust will be alumi-coated on the inside.

Since we've been off topic the entire thread can someone give me some solid max safe EGT numbers, max safe rpm?
