Rickles, the sad thing is our Pete WILL out run my Dmax w/ or w/o speed limiter http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cry.gif

If it wasn't for the big rigs, 'gators' would be extinct.

If your rig is weighing 80,000+ lbs would you be making any sudden lane changes? I don't think so!!!!

There are so crazy truckers out there, try running one of the road and see what happens, BET YOU WILL LOSE. THe only thing I move for is another semi, or a firetruck. no way I move for any 4 wheeler@!

Statements like this give truckers a bad name. I have meet more curtious truckers in my travels than what is projected above.

It just makes me mad when people think that we can do the same manuvers with that truck as they can with their car or truck

When I was a younger kid, I used to think truckers where crazy. Now I think they are the most courteous drivers on the road. They rarely tailgate, and if you offer them a little space, they return in kind. They don't mind when you pull into the big pumps to fill up, and some even comment on my nice 'rig' even though it's nothing compared to theirs. Generally good people.

I have seen some truckers do manuvers with a 40 ton truck that I would not try with my 3 1/2 ton burb.(when loaded) I do not drive them for a living but I have driven them in years past and properly loaded they are more manuverable than some would lead you to believe. Stopping on slick pavement can be a really touchy subject though and I would not want to do that regulary in one either.

I always give the big boys a lot of room and a lot of credit for their general courtesy and good road manners. Not all, of course, but most by a wide margin in my experience. One of my very good friends is a truck driver. He and his wife joined my wife and me this weekend for a camping outting. When I grumbled as a slow footed moron lethargically ambled from the on ramp into our lane without any sign of obvious acceleration or attention, forcing me to use the brakes to avoid him, my friend just grunted, "welcome to my world."

I am getting my cdl in the next week and have been attending a commercial driving academy. I already knew that you cant drive the big rigs like you do your little cars but I have learned to respect the truck drivers a little more. Gone are the days of the shoddy, dirty trucker and now drivers are viewed as professionals. It takes more than just to sit in the cab and steer the truck to be a truck driver.

http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Ermm.gif Truckers are getting a bad name from all of these "ambulance chasers" and their commercials. Truck Drivers don't tick me off as much as a "soccer mom" that don't know how to use the cruise control. They pass you, then they slow down. You pass them, and they speed up.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Angry.gifhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Angry.gifhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Angry.gifhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Angry.gifhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Angry.gifhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Angry.gifhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Angry.gifhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Angry.gifhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Angry.gifhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Angry.gif<IMG onMouseOver="this.style.cursor='hand'" onMouseOut="this.style.cursor=

The ones that worry me are the ones in cars and SUVs with the head leaned over to hold a cell phone on their shoulder and gabbing away while weaving through traffic. Women seem to do this more than guys from what I have seen anyway.

snoman, you must be riding in my truck with me. I see that every EVERY day. Drive 60 miles round trip to work, have been with three different cell systems, and have four dead spots because of hills that cells won't work no matter what company, no signal, no bars, no service, no talkey, zip, nada, zilch, NOTHING! But that idiot in front of me drifting from shoulder to center line still has the phone glued to their ear. Who do these people think they are talking to, or are they just trying to look important in case other driver might see them?

OK, done venting. Get off my soapbox before I hurt myself.

I agree with dmaxfan, I hate it when people don't use the cruise contol and play the speed up slow down game.

I been around a lot of truckers and I think that the experienced ones are the best drivers on the road. They seem to know the most about the driving environment. You can predict what they are going to do.

How about the ones that deliberatly speed up when you try to pass them?

I had been talking with some drivers on the radio coming back from tennessee down to georgia.. Everyone knew who I was since it had been a good 2 hours of BSing. I decided that I was going to pull over and let the wife drive because I was really tired. Some twerp decided to start doing that sh*t to her while I was asleep.

One drivers load happened to be one of those trailers with the chrome covered doors on the ass end. After they saw this guy flashing his lights, passing her, then slowing down, flashing his lights, passing her, Generally being an idiot.... he got boxed in by 2 rigs behind that chrome ended trailer and they decided to give him some high beam love... I woke up to my wife laughing, asked her wtf? She explained and I got on the horn and thanked them for it.

Drive safe now, ya'hear? :)
