I was wondering if anyone was running this kit on their 6.5? Power gain? sweet sound? etc. Just general questions.

Sorry if you guys get tired of all my threads, I am just trying to feel out the different 6.5 systems out there.

I have the stinger kit on my burb but it was there before I bought it. Quality is good, sound is similar to stock, but I think there are kits out there for a lot less $ maybe more time to install.

I have Banks Stinger on my 95. I bought it online not from Banks. I think the exhaust is good quality and the air portion is only an air scoop and K&N replacement filter. If you use that or any other exhaust get rid of the Cat. if you can. That made a big diff for me, especially in EGT. It's expensive, good quality exhaust. I think you can do the same thing for less money. If I was to do it again I don't think I'd do Banks. I would do other after market parts and accomplish the same thing for less dollars. Just my 2cents. Good luck.

I put one on mine when I got it. I didn't use the K&N filter. I bought an AFE, instead.

Do you like it? Would you recommend it?

Thanks, Jacob

I have it on my truck, and the exhaust only lasted 3 years. Rusted out, muffler rusted out at 2 1/2 years. Everything else is cool. Personally, I'd just piece a kit together if I did it again.

I did the same thing, 3 in SS Pipes and 4" SS Muffler. see my Signiture

I like it just fine. It had the probe bung for the pyrometer in it and seems to be a good system. It sounds good and I feel I have as much performance as the straight pipe exhaust that was on it when I bought it. I have no catalytic convertor, but had a straight pipe made to go where the Banks kit asked for one. I bought the flange from Banks. I sold the stainless steel exhaust tip because I didn't like the looks of it.

If I was to do another one, I think I might go with Heath's bigger system, but just because it's bigger - not that I'm displeased with this one.

The stinger system is a cat back, am I right?

Thanks, Jacob

Mine had a downpipe, but not a cross over.

That's right. My truck had no cat. conv. on it when I bought it, so I had the pipe made to go where it once existed. That's the pipe I bought the flange for.

I checked into the Banks system. They would not sell me a pipe to do away with the cat. I'm in a small town and no one here sells 4" exhaust. I went with BD diesel Performance one my first truck and Kennedy on the second one. I like the 4" exhaust, the sound and the power gains. ( it sounds like a big block) I also installed the AFE filter.

What you might want to do is "for test purposes or off road driving only" make a CAT bypass pipe, JC Whitney sells stainless flex pipe, cut off the old downpipe flange, and weld it to a piece of 3.5" straight tube, then use the piece of flex pipe with 360 deg wrap around strap style clamps to secure the test pipe in place of the cat.
