: What's your mileage....seriously though

Ok, my truck has 73000 miles on it, it's mostly. It has a K&N FIPK on it and 265's - that's it. I have heard of people getting 19mpg.....I have never seen that number on the DIC, ever.

The best I can get is 17.5 or so, if I keep it at 2000 rpms. Loaded towing my boat, probably around 5000lbs maybe more I get 13mpg. This was on a recent 600 miles roundtrip from San Diego to Parker, AZ.

Is this consistent with what you guys are seeing?

I have the 03 LB7 with the Edge Juice W/Attitude. On level 2 towing a 10K 5er, I get between 11-13 hand calculated. That is about 65MPH. about 2K RPM

Empty I have seen 23.8 on the DIC. Usually I add town driving between fill ups. On one trip I did get fuel after about 200 Miles and the handcalc was 20.7

I will be making a trip this weekend empty and will see what it gets on level 5, taking it easy. I plan on keeping it under 70mph.

On edit, I have 69K miles No problems so far

13-15 mpg around town, 18 mpg highway at 65 mph or less. towing my 12000lb 5er. 9-12 mpg with cruise control set at 60 mph and Tach. at 2000 or below. this depends on hills, wind, and how much I have to pass other vehicles. Going to Bishop Ca. I get about 9 mpg coming home almost 12mpg. My Son's father in law has the same truck only a 8.1 Gasser towing he gets about 5 or 6 mpg. no info on solo driving as he only use it to tow.

Depends on if you are running a tuner/programmer etc or not. This will have effects on the DIC as well.

Pretty consistently I get 16-18mpg. I do drive hard and have a VA 200 that regularly get's turned up ):h . I have tryed driving like a grandpa and got 23+mpg hand calculated. I have seen 14-15mpg when really abusing the power and street racing a lot ):h . Towing 11-13mpg mainly. My dad always get's 19-21mpg but he's very careful. The worst he has seen towing is 9mpg and that was towing around 20,000lbs and was a high wind resistant load.

I see in the 18s on a tank. On long highway trips if I take it easy I have seen 19-20 mpg. My truck is stock.

I'm right about the same Lightning. Best I've ever seen was 18.5mpg's. Got 13-14 once when I first got a programmer. ( I don't know what happened :lying: ):h ) Diesels can be funny. One person will get those magical low 20's and then some get shafted and get the Mid-teen's mpg's. High 'teens seem to be the most common average for HWY driving depending upon driving style.

Just calc'd 18.1. I usually get around 18.5. Highest I think I have seen is 19.3.

Lately, I average 19.5-20mpg hand calculated- mostly city driving with my edge on level 1 or 2. Believe it or not, level 2 seems to have the same effect on mileage as level 1.

So it sounds like I am in the norm from what most people have indicated. Maybe those who are getting better mileage then I am have on the stock wheels and pizza slicer tires. I wonder how much difference if any the tailgate makes on the trips?

Average combined city/hwy mileage since I've owned the truck (11/02) is 18.9 mpg, per the DIC. Bone stock motor with the original 245's (though not for long . . ), minimal towing & mostly light loads when I do . .

2003 4x4 ext cab. Only mod is a cold air intake. On a recent trip 20.5 empty mostly highway. 19.5 half empty half with #1500 on 2 pallets in bed 8 to 10 inches above cab, 70 % highway. 19.8 with the same load mostly highway.

All hand calculated. Speeds about 70 mph.

Highway @ 2100 RPMs, 74 - 75 --> 20.5

I also run a little propane which does help too.

The tailgate makes zero difference. On Mythbusters they found tailgate up got better mileage than down. I have 285's and would expect at least 1mpg better if I downsized, but who wants that. I got about 18mpg's with stock 245's w/out a tuner. I get the same with 285's and a programmer.

I don't push the speed - around 60-65 max if traffic is doesn't deem more for safety. Bugs me to hold anyone up, so I don't. Usually get around 20-22 highway and around 18 city - empty.

Towing 12k 5th wheel is another story. Have been as low as 9 pulling against STRONG headwind but usually average 13-15 towing. Again, I don't push it at all. This thing has to last me for the rest of my towing days. I try to stay below 60, but sometimes traffic just says I have to go faster to not be a safety hazard.

I'm strictly stock in the engine.

I get 12-13 around town if I take it easy. I have the flashpaq on performance and run 35's. I don't know why mine is lower than average, maybe another mod might help.

I just added the AFE Stage II Intake and am getting 1.5mpg better hand calculated and empty on the highway @ 70-75mph:ro) :ro)

Edge EZ set @ 65hp.

I get between around 13.5 combined with a heavy foot, and 14.6 taking it easy and keeping it under 2k. I broke 15 only once, 15.3 I believe it was.

I noticed no substantial difference in milage when I switched from stock tires to the Revo's in 285's.

I did the Kennedy airbox modification, run the Predator 40 HP tow tune (tire size adjusted). Front end is lifted which I'm positive dosen't help matters at all.

I just ordered a Retrax bed cover to see if that helps any. After that maybe a 4" exhaust. If I could see 17 MPG I'd be real, real happy.

City driving can vary greatly from 15-18. I average 18.5 going back & froth to work(75% hwy, 25% stop & go). On a recent trip to the U.P. of MI(1200 mi round trip), I averaged just under 19.5 mpg at between 70-75 mph most of the time. I don't have a programmer on my truck, and was not hauling/towing anything.
