I was wondering if anyone was running this, and what they thought? Off Road Rated? Good sound? In cab drone? Just basic stuff.

Thanks for the posts, Jacob

I read enough from pleased owners to order one from Pinnacle and it should be here Wed.

You can get the Warpspeed for the same money and get a free stainless tip I think. I would say that they are equals based on available info.

Pinnacle was doing the free stainless tip thing as a limited offer and sure enough, by the time I clicked buy-it-now they had run out of tips and discontinued the offer...

I have it on my Suburban, and I'm pleased with it. It's loud, but I don't think its too loud. Definitely noticed an improvement in power and highway fuel economy.

You can clearly hear the turbo spool up and down easily now through the exhaust, which is cool sounding - sounds like a big rig in that regard. It also has a deep rumble mixed in with the turbo whistle, which drowns out the turbo when you get on it. Sounds like a mix between a big block gasser and a Sherman tank.

Inside, it is definitely louder than stock, but not too loud except when the engine is under higher load such as when climbing hills and towing. When towing 200 miles on the highway, it almost got annoying, and I think if there was someone sitting in the third row while towing, they would have been annoyed with the loudness. But under normal conditions on the highway, it isn't too loud.

Go to WOT while accelerating, and people will KNOW you are there - it is pretty loud then and sounds pretty mean.

Everything fits nicely, seems well made, and was relatively easy to install.

If I find I want the exhaust quieter, I could always replace the muffler with a quieter one like a Magnaflow 4", or pretty much any 4" muffler - there is plenty of room to fit a variety of mufflers. The muffler that comes with the Pinnacle kit is pretty much a straight pipe, with just tiny baffles inside the wall, which I don't think do much of anything. Most of the muffling is done by the turbo.

Overall, I'm happy with it and would recommend it.

I put a pinnacle exhaust on a 96 1/2 ton i just bought from my dad and it is a very good exhaust. Nice throaty sound and it barks real nice when you put your foot into the fuel pedal. Funny thing on this truck it had the stock exhaust with a cat and it droned on the highway, now with the pinnacle 4" with muffler the drone is gone. I would recommend this exhaust to anyone wanting to get rid of the stock junk. Installation was pretty easy and I just bought a 5" ss tip locally to finish it off. Good exhaust and a very good price.

That's interesting. I've got a drone around 1600rpm and wonder if it's exhaust related or something else...I can eliminate the exhaust question next week!

Wagonwheeler, which way did you install the muffler? I put mine in with the baffles towards the back of the truck. Maybe if you faced them forward they are causing the drone. I had to tweak the pipe and hanger where the pipe passes over the torsion bar hanger after a couple of hundred kms, seems like i didn't have it set quite high enough and after some driving and heating and cooling cycles the exhaust had settled a bit.

I put the muffler with the direction of the flow arrow that Pinnacle drew on it, which I think was the same way you have it, with the baffles towards the back of the truck.

My truck doesn't drone, it is just loud under load. The in-cab loudness is more noticeable on Suburbans than pickups. I'm fine with it, except when towing on long hauls. Since I don't do too much towing, I'll probably leave it as is.

Stungray, maybe try putting a turndown tip on your exhaust. i had one on my 92 1 ton and it seemed to be quieter when i was puttin' the fuel to it pulling or empty. put the turn down so it is oriented down a bit and back so the exhaust is directed down and away from the back of you sub.

Do any of you have the version with the cat? Because I need to retain mine in Maine. Have any of you done some dirt roads etc because I need something that will last up here because during hunting and fishing season I do quite a bit of dirt roads and I want something that wont break on me.

Thanks, Jacob

I got this exhaust system, it definetly gave me a little more power, as for sound, it was'nt as loud as I thought it might be, little louder in the cab.. went on fairly easy, I did have to bend a couple of the hangers a little, and had very little clearance under cab, had to make a heat blanket to go around the pipe to stop it from vibrating against the bottom of cab..
