Recently noticed a new sound. Seems to be coming from the undercarriage mid to rear of the truck. I tend to notice it at very slow speeds when near a wall or something that will bounce the sound towards the cab (ie. drive through). It sounds kinda like "shoosh" and is cyclical with movement (doesnt do it when not moving). it reminds me of the frequency of a locomotive starting out... shoosh ..... shoosh .... shoosh ... shoosh.
I had the rear U joint replaced about 22k mi. ago. and it didnt really sound like that. could it be a brake caliper, or wheel bearing, or ujoint between t case and drive shaft????
Any thoughts or opinions would be appreciated.

start the cheap way by having your wheels balanced. After that check your rear brakes. When you say shoosh I think of a slight rubbing sound. When brakes wear unevenly it can do that. Check your front brakes too.

Could be the same sound my '03 1500 made when the front wheel hub went bad. It went from that to an annoying squeak to an out and out scream. Good luck
Any suggestions on diagnosing this problem? I was thinking about putting the rear end up on jack stands this weekend and put it in neutral then spinning the tires to see if I can find it rubbing or catching anywhere. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Run over a plastic bag lately. I sucked one in the the vent of the brake rotor and everytime it went through the caliper, you would hear a shoooooosh noise.

Check your rear seal on your transfer case and yoke, on mine, I have a spring loaded type rubber dust cover, could be rubbing from the rubber dust cover seal to the yoke, if yours have one, apply some grease between the rubber and yoke. Also check your carriage hanger bearing.
It was indeed the front U-Joint on the rear driveshaft. It sounded much different than the rear did when it went.
