I'm just about to pull the trigger and commit to a D/A. But here is my dilemma.
I'm moving from Minnesota to Montana 1st of August. Montana does not have sales tax so I want to ttl it there. To avoid an unnecessary trip out there I would like to purchase after July 1 so my 30 day temp tag from Minnesota will get me there. I also have to have it by Aug 10 for my annual fishing trip.
Do I wait and hope there would still be an 04 with the color/options that I want or should I order an 05 and hope that it arrives in time.
Anybody have any information about how quickly the 05's will arrive?

Unless GM has changed their position since I sold them a long time ago...
Even if your truck comes in before the release date for the new model year, you can't have it since GM will not provide the dealer with either an invoice or an MSRP to license the thing with until the release date.
Long story short, mid September earliest on an '05.

So that leaves me with an 04. Same question, is it worth waiting until July to purchase to avoid an unnecessary trip to Montana to license the trunk or will there likely be crap for inventory left?

04 dmax/ally inventory is low already and since production has stopped its not going to get any better. If you find one that you like, I would buy it now. Great incentives also.
Goody's right, grab it and if the rebate situation has changed for June, your dealer should give you which ever deal is best by either back dating the sale, or using June's numbers.
That is if you do it tomorrow, most will work with you that way.

You can buy the 04 with tax, for less than an 05, becuase of all the rebates. I'm a fellow Minnesotan and have been shopping myself, seems to be slim pickin's around here, except for Friendly Chev. With $2500 rebate, $1000 truckfest and $500 for the 24 testdrive certificate (gotta ask for that one.) you can get $4,000 off. BUT, the rebates will be the highest in Aug. Sept on the 04's. Good luck.

Quite true but I can still buy the vehicle here and then go to Montana to title it. Saves another 6% off the sticker. Actually it looks like they have quite a few D/A's in Missoula. I'm calling that dealer this afternoon.

I have contacted a dealer in MT that has a D/A already ordered with a TPW of 6/21. Is that the last week of 04 production or the next to last week?

If it's got the options you want that would be perfect. I thought they were done building 04's 2 weeks ago. Maybe not in all plants? Howard?

I think they quite taking orders only, mine was built last week, shipped Friday and delivered Tuesday morning.
05 orders are going in right now and my dealer said 6-8 weeks for delivery.
I think it must be one of the goofy model years change overs.
05 H2 SUV are on the lot now too.
