hdmax 05-31-2004, 05:59 PM If you are considering a 8" or more lift, you should really look into the CST 9-11" lift. This lift is very pricey ($3000 or more installed with all options) but it is the Cadillac of IFS lifts
Voodoo 05-31-2004, 09:13 PM I VOTE CST!!!!! Worth every $.... enough said.
datsbad 06-01-2004, 12:21 AM could i do just a 6" lift and external rezy shocks, i was thinking of stickingwith a 325/60 20 tire (35")
datsbad 06-01-2004, 12:28 AM also , what about fabtech , procomp ? not any good . what shocks , bilsteins or edelbrock ? any help is great
voodoo, what backspacing wheels do you have ? do they stick out any? i almost think a truck with a lift the wheels should stick out some . if not it kinda gives it the tall and thin look which i do not like . dont you agree? i have some 18" wheels now and they do not stick out , i am afraid they might not suit me if i use them . so i ask this so i can compare your truck to mine . you pretty much have exactly what i want . how much do you have in the lift with the shocks? and do they make a 6" lift
datsbad 06-01-2004, 12:40 PM still looking for info on this !
1bad01 06-01-2004, 06:16 PM I like RCD.

Stay away from the Procomp for sure. P.O.S. lift kit, seen many people with procomp and their fron ends collapsing and stuff. I would go with an 8" for dual rezy's,IMO it just looks better than w/ a 6". For a 6" RCD is prolly the better than fabtech. I have the fabtech 8" and it has been great. I agree w/Voodoo though on the CST 9"-11", if I would have found a deal on the CST when I got the deal on my Fabtech I would have gotten the CST.

If you like the wide look then Fabtech I feel has the widest front. Keep in mind the more they stick out the less you will have for turning with larger tires without cutting inner fender parts. Your wheels should be fine if the backspacing is correct. My lift is a 6-8" and is set at 8". The ride is as good or better than stock. I did alot of reading and looking before making my choice, CST just seemed to fit my needs perfect in every way.
Take you time and go look at the shops and workers before you choose, ask to see some of there installs. Also if you happen to see a lifted truck in your area you like and are able to ask the owner about it, get as much info as possible such as; Who did the lift, did he like the shop etc.... The more information you know the less chance of things going wrong.
I love my CST lift and so will you if it's installed correctly!
If you have any questions ask away!
datsbad 06-02-2004, 01:00 AM if i do this i will be installing it myself . seems cst is the way to go , i have heard nothing bad about them .
voodoo , what was you total cost ?
Voodoo 06-03-2004, 12:05 AM After all said in done just over $10k. That includes lift, rims, tires, shocks, gears, and labor, plus some was at dealer cost.
Bodysurfer 06-03-2004, 03:22 PM I went ProComp. Its no longer 6in....its 7in on the 2500HD's. I used ProComp's MX6 adjustable shocks. Here is a pic on my rig:

1bad01 06-03-2004, 04:13 PM It's only a 4 inch, I should have went with 6.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/HiHi.gif

I have the Fabtech 6" lift on my truck with 17"x8 wheels, 4.25 back spacing and 315's. I had to do only minor trimming. Ride is firmer than stock and more to my liking. I do however have a couple of issues with the fabtech lift.
First i have a shudder at take-off and a vibration at about 65. All of this is attributed to the two-peice driveline my 01 has. If you have a one piece then no problem.
Second, My Srub radius seems to off. The angle difference between the two tires when turning at full lock. The outside tire srubs the pavement tearing it up our just leaving dark tire marks. Fabtech says they never hear of this before http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Confused.gif So I find that hard to believe.
I installed the lift myself and it took me 20hours or so. Everthing went well except the corrosive de-icer they use around here. Probably could have shaved 4 hours off my time if not for that.
$1400 out of pocket, and put the stockers with 285's back on till summer.
Hope that helps,
Tom

Gray Gmax 06-05-2004, 10:08 PM Here are some pics of the concerns i have with the fabtech lift.
I had to shim the carrier bearing another 1/4", but still have vibration and shudder. GM problem not Fabtech.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/uploads/B7D_dmax6-6_004a.jpg
the outside wheel should be turning less than the inside. (larger radius) not vise versa.

Gray Gmax 06-05-2004, 10:12 PM And here is the amount of trimming required for my wheels & tires.
