hi guys this is my first post
i have a 98 tahoe 2 door with the 6.5 deisel with 140k
the engine has recently been stalling at various rpms while driving or idling. sometimes it happens 10 times in 5 minutes sometimes never in an entire tank. it usually starts right back up but yesterday it took me a while to get it fired back up. i talked to my cousin who is the previous owner and he told me that it sounded like some fuel sender located uder the drivers seat? i think it could be dirty injectors?
anyone know how a good way to clean the injectors up nice
it has been blowing some black smoke from time to time.
or should i just get my visa ready and take it to the dealer
also the check engine light has been on the whole time
thanks to everyo9ne in advance.

It is probably the PMD. (the black box on the side of the injection pump)

The black smoke is caused because of no turbo boost. It is usually the wastgate solenoid but could also be a lot of other things including the vacuum pump, vacuum lines, wiring, etc)

I doubt that is is dirty injectors.

Andrew lot of troubleshooting before condeming FSD/PMD but that is a common problem but it can be replaced without replacing IP. Wiring problems common with these trucks, also a PMD/FSD can be brought back from the grave sometimes.

1st change fuel filter

2nd check for lift pump operation, turn key on to engine run you should hear lift pump run, if it runs then start truck. There is a drain valve for the fuel filt bowl center of front of eng brass valve with chrome tee handle open the drain with truck running if it stumbles you need to look into the lift pump power circuit or the pump itself.

check those things then post back result. also in your sig line list your trucks particulars that way you won't have to add info to each post, knowing your configuration helps to troubeshoot.
