: Juice/Attitude On and Off
PULNPWR 05-31-2004, 02:33 PM Does anybody see anything wrong with driving around in level 0 and when I pull my 5th wheeler, I go to level 2. I don’t want to use level 2 all the time, but my concern is with the tranny getting use to one level and then switching back to another.Edited by: PULNPWR
Max Power 05-31-2004, 02:47 PM Nothing wrong with doing that. You will still see a slight increase over not having the juice installed at all. The juice still provides some timing increase over stock in level 0.
I would not be the least bit afraid of level 1 or 2 as far as the tranny is concerned.
RUMAXED 05-31-2004, 05:56 PM i pulled my 5th wheel from ct to fl on level 2 had no trouble with tranny temp or exhaust temp. from fl to ct i ran in #3 still no trouble with temps, running around 70-75. when i got home checked for any codes for tranny, FOUND NONE
PULNPWR 05-31-2004, 06:58 PM Thanks for the info, but my real question is does it hurt the tranny going from 0 to level 2 instead of leaving it in one level. Edited by: PULNPWR
Max Power 05-31-2004, 07:07 PM It won't hurt it. You might see the odd less then perfect shift but it shouldn't be too bad at all. You might not even notice it.
gmccall 06-01-2004, 09:12 AM I have read and experienced that changing levels around "seems" to confuse the tranny. Shifts odd more often. I'm not aware of any Problems though, and I have had none so far, from changing levels.
hdmax 06-01-2004, 10:14 AM I came back yesterday from a 380 mile weekend drive/get-a-way pulling our 8000# travel trailer. (Combined weight is normally in the 15,700-16,800# once truck and trailer is loaded to go) I used the Quad Stealth on the 135 hp setting. I traveled mostly back country highways and secondary roads, There were dozens of 8-12% grades. The curves and road lay out (Very narrow) made it nearly impossible for 5th gear. (Speed was 35-60 mph, with 45-50 being the norm for the top speed. I never hit 65 on the trip)
I have the X-Monitor, so it makes it easy to get the max reading on boost and exhaust temperature. The highest EGT was 1093* going and 1275* on the return trip. Boost never went above 23.4# I did not have to let up on the throttle any time do to temperatures.
Now if 5th gear would have been used much, I am sure I would have had problems with the transmission, and or the EGT.
I am not trying to compare the Juice/Attitude with the Quad Stealth. Just giving some information on how our trucks can handle power under different situations. Edited by: hdmax
PULNPWR 06-03-2004, 07:34 PM Anybody eles do the samething....
flhrciblueice 06-04-2004, 03:58 AM So...if I were to leave my truck(stock exhaust-magnaflow in the box for whenever I have time to install it, cheesed airbox, no gauges yet) in level 1 this weekend pulling a 3300#(empty) trailer, I wouldn't need to worry about temps? It will be mostly interstate from KY to Gainesville, FL and back. Just going to pick up a trailer and bring it home. I normally drive around in level 2, but have already turned it down to 1 in normal and stock in t/h, in case I forget to do it before I leave Saturday. I normally turn it to stock in t/h when I am pulling heavy. I don't really consider 3.3k to be heavy, but this trailer(8.5 X 20 car hauler) will probably be catching some wind.
jcummins 06-04-2004, 07:37 AM You will not have any temp problems running level 1 with that weight. Having said that, higher temps will occur if you let the rpms get down in 5th. Keep rpms > 1800. and you will have no problem.

I don't foresee od rpm's under 1800 as being a problem.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/HiHi.gif Anyone who has driven on the interstate in Georgia knows what I mean. If I go that slow, I will be overrun.
CStone 06-04-2004, 02:37 PM I agree with flhrciblueice on GA interstates. Blue haired women in Atlanta will give you the finger for driving less than 75 MPH.
Of course, this does not apply for Atlanta between the hours of 7-10AM and 3-7PM, as EVERYTHING stops through Atl at that time.
I had the front brakes on a company truck catch on fire with me on I-75 through downtown Atl at 5:30PM on a Friday. (I won't say what brand, but it sounds like a shallow place in a river where you can cross.) Did front rotors/pads/calipers replacement on that pile o' crap in a Chevron parking lot to get home. The cool part was the look on the cashier's face when we took the end off their $0.50 Tire Air line to put on an impact wrench. Didn't work too well, but well enough.
