All of a sudden my #1 remote does not work but #2 does. Battery is good. Anything I can try before I go to the dealer? I had to reprogram a remote in a older truck before but wasn't sure how to do it in this one because of the 2 different remotes for the driver settings.
Thanks in advance

Give this a try.

Transmitter Synchronization

<UL =BULLET>

Resynchronization may be necessary due to the security method used by the remote keyless entry system. The transmitter does not send the same signal twice to the passenger door module (PDM).

The PDM will not respond to a signal that has been sent previously. This prevents anyone from recording and playing back the signal from the transmitter.

The panic button should still operate normally when the system is out of synchronization.

Resynchronization may be necessary under the following conditions:
<UL =SQUARE>

The battery in the transmitter is very weak.

The battery in the transmitter was replaced.

The battery in the vehicle has been in a low or no charge condition for an extended period of time.
In order to resynchronize the transmitter with the PDM, perform the following steps:

Stand within 1.5 meters (5 ft) from the vehicle.

Simultaneously press and hold the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons on the transmitter for 7 seconds.The door locks should cycle in order to confirm resynchronization.
If this doesn't work the dealer has a key fob tester.

Method 1 - No Tools Required, Program All Transmitters

Important

All transmitters which are to be recognized by the PDM must be programmed in a single programming sequence. When using this program method, all previously programmed transmitters will be erased upon the receipt of the programming signal from the first transmitter.
The order in which the transmitters are programmed will determine its numbering position within the PDM memory. The first transmitter programmed will be transmitter #1, and the second transmitter programmed will be transmitter #2. The number stamped on the transmitter case is for reference only; #2 can be programmed as #1, or vice versa. Additional unnumbered transmitters are also available.
<LI =1>Close all the vehicle doors.
<LI =1>Insert the ignition key into the ignition lock cylinder.
<LI =1>Press and hold the door unlock switch.
<LI =1>While holding the door lock switch in the unlock position, cycle the ignition ON, OFF, ON, OFF.
<LI =1>Release the door unlock switch. The doors will lock and unlock to confirm the program mode.
<LI =1>Press and hold the LOCK button and the UNLOCK button simultaneously on one transmitter. After a delay of approximately 15 seconds, the doors will lock and unlock to confirm the programming of that transmitter.
<LI =1>Repeat the previous step to program up to 4 transmitters.
<LI =1>Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position in order to exit the keyless entry transmitter programming mode.
<LI =1>Operate the transmitter functions in order to verify correct system operation.

Moderators, GMCSID's directions should be moved to the Do it yourself and other useful articles. It sure would of helped me a few weeks ago. I never thought about asking here for the directions.

Guys a side note about our remotes.
The wife has a problem about not checking the pockets before washing clothes and today it happened. Remote #2 got all the way through the wash cycle and into the rinse. I went through the roof, as we've/I've already had to remove pieces of a toad from the maytag from her not checking the kids pants pockets, but not my remote!
I get it out of the pants pocket, sure that it's shot and procede to open it up so it can dry out. TURNS OUT THE DARN THINGS ARE WATER TIGHT!, Don't take it diving or nothing like that but it made it through 2 cycles in the fairly new maytag and was dry as a bone!

I was able to obtain a second remote from my dealer when I bought my truck. I tried using the procedure in programming the extra remote. It worked like a charm. However, the original remote that I have doesn't work now. Does the process erase the programming from any other remotes? How can I get both remotes programmed?

All remotes need to reprogrammed together.
