What exactly do they do? Does it make the light almost like a HID light or is it still the standard yellow light???

They allow your HIGH beams and LOW beams on at the same time when on HIGH (Blue light on dash).

It will work just like if you PULL back the turn signal lever, both light up.

But the BEST feature of the KD harness, is that it gets its power directly from the battery or alternator. Bypasses the dash switch and uses relays.

Good product.

Great product. Turns your truck into rolling daylight the correct way.

From Kennedy's website.

Way overpriced, just like the rest of the homemade stuff. Just my opinion. It does work well though.

Roofer.... he has a supplier for those harnesses. It's not home made.

I'm sure he has a supplier. That's fine. They were being made here in MN for years now for around $20 a set. They are made with smaller guage wiring though.

I got a set from them for around $45 which included the headlight booster and one for keeping the fog lights on. This was on my Z71 I had. Never had a problem with them. Now I read everywhere that they need bigger guage wiring. Why????

Roofer the KD harness puts it all together in an industrial quality harness with weatherpack relays. It aint cheap but it's good.

Thanks Hoot.

Here is another one for $99.

I have a Kennedy on my '02 and another kind on my '97. Kennedy is far and away a better unit. When I value my time, I couldn't do as well for the price - even if I could get the materials. Someone else may have one as good - I don't know.

Roofer looking at that picture it's no comparison to the KD harness. KD replaces ALL of the wiring except it uses the input from the dash switch. I have a KD harnes sitting in the garage, Removed it from my trade. Battery acid got on one of the relays from a junk AcDelco science experiment gone wrong. Melted the housing but still was working fine.Edited by: hoot

All that unit does is turn on the low beams with the high beams. I have a .10c diode that accomplishes the exact same thing. The headlight harnesses they are talking about actually increase the bulb output by decreasing the loss of the facory wiring.

I played with the other gimmicks of 4 lights on and nothing compared to the HD Light Harness mentioned above available at Kennedy Diesel for one source ...

Complete plug and play with NEW relays ,grounds and battery or Alternator connections for constant 12 volts ... It looks SO OEM you Will be surprised ...http://www.casperselectronics.com/Merchant2/images/102064.jpg

Remember the stock wiring isn't designed to power up four lamps let alone HO ones as the cheaper imitation use ...

More PICS in my sig of unit installed on my Silverado ...

Well worth the investment ....

My only concern with these headlight harnesses is that you will most likely go through headlight bulbs a lot quicker.

Mine have been in for about 2 1/2 years and 36k. I can't remember which HO bulbs I got from John, but they been berry, berry good to me.

Can't complain about that. I've heard on more then 1 occasion of bulbs blowing up. Both had a headlight booster. One was Sylvania silverstars and one was OEM Bulbs. That is the only reason I commented on it.

Max, Not sure if this is the same thing or not, but if memory serves most of the blowups that I recall reading of were with Hella bulbs, which JK used for a brief period when the Philips got hard to come by.

Is JK going to have shocks and these harnesses available in June at his roundup? I figure since I hope to be there.........

Noting the picture link - looks like Caspers has
redesiged their website(and raised their prices
too). IIRC, I paid like ~$120 for the Headlight
Harness - now it's ~$135.00. Oh well, glad
I purchased one when I did...

Agree - good investment for night-vision.

This sound like a good modification for our trucks however I would not consider getting one for mine due to the fact that I run snowplow on my truck. Because the snowplow manufacturers use wiring harness which connects and taps into vehicle headlights wiring harness, etc. I would guess that by adding Kennedy headlight booster kit to snowplow equipped trucks, they could potentially run into some problems and I would not want to risk that.

I am not saying in any way that this product may have a downside, but just want to make this aware to other people who also run snowplow on their trucks. Edited by: wxmn6

got mine from summit racing. its a painless wire one. they are 37.95. they do get power from the battery but do tap into the wires so the relay knows its on. i have not any problems with these, had them on a chevy '93,'00, and now my '02.
