Searched and found noting so?
when i bought my truck it was cold about 30-35 and the elevated idle worked like a dream . Since I installed my downloader it no longer works at all although it seems to have started to a time or two in the extreme cold (wind chill in singles). my questions are is this normal for a power pup and do any other downloaders retain this feature? thank you for your time.:help:

Wind chill has no effect on anything but people, can't get any colder than actual air temp. Where are you finding temps cold enough for fast idle in Aug.? Mine worked fine with pup last winter.

Some programmers turn it off when you install them. Might make sure it didn't get disabled. Also as said, truck doesn't go by wind chill, it goes by several different temp readings to tell when to run the high idle. Air intake temp must be less than 41.5, coolant must be below 145.4. If the pup can read stuff like the predator you can check what the IAT is when starting. Never heard that it can do that though.

I may have left the fact out i installed the pup in feb. I was inquiring b/c i had seen a few threads on aftermarket systems and it got me to thinkin' that mine doesn't work anymore. just would be nice to know in a few months. as far as i can tell the pup reads nothing but codes, but i am in the market for another tuner, so... NAR how would i go about finding out if it has become disabled ? Thanks.

When I ran the predator it didn't disable the high idle. Maybe the pup does though. I assume since you said you can't check for it that you don't have DIC controls? If you did it would be easy to see if it says it's on or off... Since I have DIC controls I've never even read the manual to see what the way is to turn it on. I recall reading on here it was something similar to the oil reset I think... Hard to check it without some cold temps or EFI.. Except EFI can't read your lbz yet anyway.

BTW I don't mean disable in a permanent way, just that I remember some people saying a programmer would turn the high idle function off. So you should be able to just turn it back on if it isn't on now.

if I recall correctly I took the pup back off when this happened and it began working again . almost but not completely sure. My truck does not have the DIC controls (although it would if i knew for a fact i could buy them from the for sale area and they would work)so i guess maybe the idle can be turned back on by pressing this five times:ro) ,clicking this three timesCensored ,and doing some weird indian dance  ?
