Mine won't downshift after about 70 MPH. I think it's normal.

http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Confused.gifThis is not good. Will the "EDGE" change this???? PS have alot to offer at this speed. Surly we can change this imperfection? Wonder if we can shift into 3rd????

The Edge will give that power you need without having to down shift.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Clap.gif Running 70mph and put the fuel to her.......you'll be at 90 in a wink.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Clap.gif
The funny thing is the other day I was running in traffic and for some reason my Edge(juice/Attitude) did not come on line. I did not notice it until I wanted to pass someone. WOW once you have the power you will know when you don't.
Enjoy the added power when you get the Edge box.

The edge won't fix this. After about 70 mph you will not downshift to 4th. But then again, why would you want it to? It is a diesel, it makes its power down low. When I am running my truck through the gears it actually pulls harder once it shifts from 4th to 5th.
3rd would be way out of the question. Remember on your truck 4th is 1 to 1 not 3rd. 3rd is actually more like 2nd on a normal truck. I know a gasser would shift down to 2nd at 65mph but it needs to to make power. Your duramax doesn't rev anywhere near high enough to shift into 3rd at 65mph.
You will see what I mean if you get a juice.

Thanks for the info, can't wait, but guess I will-$$$$. Want to do gauges first, then exhaust, then the "EDGE".
Noticed neither of you list any exhaust upgrade, did I mess something? If not, what's happening on the EGT's?
Thanks again for the help

I still have stock exhaust. EGTs are reasonable. MBPP exhaust is on the way shortly.

xsheepherder, I would put the Edge ahead of the exhaust system. Later! Frank

From the experience I've had with the PS, without the exhaust and even with the exhaust pulling a trailer you can get into turbo heat (EGT's) in a hurry. Where I live it's hot, hilly or mountainous, and a long ways from society so one tends to drive faster.
Not trying to be agrumentative at all, but this has been my experience. Don't think the Duramax would be that much different. But, it sure is tempting to have go-go first thing, no?
Enjoying the input from all you guys. The more info I get the more confussed I get?http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Confused.gif Thanks for the input.

X,
My truck with the stock exhaust would hit the 1350 degree I set the Edge limit at, on acceleration running level 4 at about 70mph.
I've not towed anything with the Edge yet so I can't tell you about the level 2 temps loaded, but with the CAT back exhaust so far the high temp on level 4 is 1192 degrees...http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Approve.gif

I have had my Edge Juice for over 20K miles without the exhaust. I have found very few hills that I had to downshift pulling my 10K 5th wheel. I run on cruise between 65 & 70 on level 2. I chose to Juice mine first and watch the EGT before buying the 4" system. There has never been a consensus on this forum or the diesel page on how much the 4" decreases the EGT. Some said 50 and some said 200. Either way I can pull 95% of the hills (and I do mean hills) in 5th without going over 1250. Later! Frank

Cool! Double meaning no? One way to find out. Order my gauges Wednesday, will several weeks before I get them installed. Maybe install the Edge and see what happens. What is a conservative EGT's temp? in level 4 and level 2 pulling a trailer at 70mph?
