: figured out whats wrong with my 2006 LBZ
DURAMAX3500 08-14-2006, 05:02 PM the truck has 5,400 miles on it, the other day the check engine light came on, i noticed that while taking off from stops it was a real dog outta the hole, but once it hit 2nd gear she'd go. so today i took it in the chevy dealer and they finally called and said its the turbo control sensor. so now i gotta wait a week for them to put on a new sensor.(kinda pissed about the week wait.)
i miss my dmax, but in the mean time ill be towin with a 2001 chevy suburban 2500 with the 496 and 4;10 gears. its a beast too
:grd:
Scott2500hd 08-14-2006, 05:18 PM A week for a turbo vain sensor, that seems a bit odd. I had one fail on a one ton dump last week, stole it off another truck had one the next day.
Maybe there is a shortage???
DURAMAX3500 08-14-2006, 05:19 PM he said its coming from detriot by UPS, and he said they dont ship by air if its by warrnety
bruins499 08-14-2006, 05:20 PM Parts probally coming from california or the Detroit like most of the Duramax parts do which sucks cause you got to wait like a week for them like he said.

Nothing like putting your CUSTOMERS on hold. If I were you, I'd make them provide me with a loaner TRUCK that will tow what you needed to tow.
hd2nv 08-14-2006, 06:19 PM i would drive it till then , bring it in once the parts come in , so its doggy out of the hole atleast you can still enjoy till then
DuraMaximus06 08-14-2006, 06:38 PM :exactly: Nothing like putting your CUSTOMERS on hold. If I were you, I'd make them provide me with a loaner TRUCK that will tow what you needed to tow.
Scott2500hd 08-14-2006, 08:50 PM Still easier just to pop one off another in stock unit. With the easy bolt on stuff im not afraid to steal one if needed. Its easier than giving up a good used Durmax for a week for someone to tow with. Plus the insurance issues come into play.
But I am sure we can overnight from Detroit, we do it all the time. The charge is not that much goes by weight. A few of my customers would pop  if I made them wait a week for a sensor.
Sorry just my opinion.
BigBadAllis 08-15-2006, 09:38 PM Sounds like a lazy dealer. Either take one off another truck or give you one to drive. My dealer put in writing that I will always have a 3/4 ton truck or better when mine comes in for anything other than a standard oil change. In this case they probably would rather take a part from another truck or find a dealer that stocks one.

mrbig 08-16-2006, 06:42 AM I noticed the exact same thing just the other day - stomped on it and it just sat there like a 14 year old dog... Then it finally came to life, slowly - I immediatly suspected the turbo spool up ...
As for the dealer problem - I took delivery of my 06 about a month ago and it had chrome flaking off the front bumper, dealer immediatly ordered a new bumper and I'm still waiting ... I think GM layed off everybody in the parts pick end of the business  ...
In any case I will have that turbo business looked at when I bring it in for the bumper replacement and the squeaks in the rear end bed box area...
So far list of problems ...
Annoying squeak bed box / rear end... (driving me crazy)
Chrome flaking off the front bumper...
Poor Turbo spool up...
Oh BTW, my truck has similar mileage about 4700 ...
CCRK MAX 08-16-2006, 12:13 PM I had my truck 2 days the cel came n so i took it in to the dealer, he said it was the turbo sensor, so they replaced the sensor. got 15 miles down the road and the cel came on again. so one more trip to the dealer, i got with the diesel tech and we got to talking about the problem, he brought out his scaner and hooked it up to the truck. with the truck running we could watch the vains in the turbo go full open and then full closed with the truck just ideling in the lot. well this was a new one on them, they called the GM enginers and the people from garret and described the problem with them. to my suprize they said that there was no way it could be doing that and that was the first time it has hapened. well to make a long story short they replaced the turbo.
I dont know, maby this could be the case? it sure sounds like how my turbo replacment started off.

yeah mine was just had no go outta the hole then would hit 2nd and it was like hitting a powerband on a 2cy. i was suppose to get it back today. but they said the parts arent in and if i take my truck to use, i get put outta line
they suck , i hate that dealer
nickmascio 08-18-2006, 10:39 PM About that sqeak in the bed / box area - I have an 05 1/2 ton work truck with a V6 5 speed. Every time I would use the brakes there was a noise around the rear of the truck - sounded like something binding or creaking; nearly drove me nuts! Tightened every nut and bolt on the truck trying to quell the noise with no luck. I finally figured out what it was one day while checking out the 'ol girls soft white underbelly. There are two ground straps that go from the frame to the front of the bed, one on each side. On my truck, they are heavily built alright, but they are short and have the derndest way of attaching to the frame and box. In short they are designed to stay connected while the frame and body flex - they are a stiff cable with a flex ground connection that is down right idiotic in it's conception. Instead of using 2 braided ground straps (like you might see on your boat or a piece of industrial equiptment or an old car) GM uses this stupid connection to ground the frame to the box. After some miles the twist/connection begins to wear out and the noise starts up. When I took mine apart, there was a fluted brass star washer that was beginning to turn to ground up blackened brass that was literally falling apart! I tried to make the original ground cable work (it's about 12 inches long, very heavy cable with some heavy duty lugs on each end) but in the end I couldn't get the stupid thing to be quiet. I threw both of them out and made up my own cable, using ordinary battery cable, about 3 feet long with ordinary cable ends. I installed and bolted them firmly in place (no more rotating ground nonsense). I used the existing bolts and different washers (flat washer and star washer from AZ) to firmly attach the cables to the frame and the box. Now the only thing that is flexing is the cable itself, instead of the eyes on the end of the cable. The noise has been gone for over 20k miles, hopefully never to return. When you get time, take a look at the frame right where the box is next to the cab and locate that cable and see if it is the same set up as mine - I'm willing to bet it is knowing GM's love to parts sharing between platforms; yeah my truck is a lowly V6 but I'll bet it shares ground cables with the DMax HD trucks! I'll check back to see if they are the same. Cheers all! Double Vanos
