I see reference to the use of a scan tool and "fast learn" procedures after the TCM is powered down and powered back up, eg: disconnect batteries for TCM work. Is there a learn procedure to use without a scan tool?

The Allison "learns" all the time. In some cases that's a curse, i.e. you drive it old man style for awhile and it forgets how to shift at WOT...http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Confused.gif


It will respond to the way you drive it most. IIRC, you need a Tech II in order to set the "fast learn" mode which basically erases your driving habits and re-learns them over a shorter time than just driving it would take to re-set them.
