PM Tazman. He checked his with a borescope to ensure the wires were safely out of the way. His hole location is probably spot on... He's kind of anal :D

this is the passenger side. It's hard to get pics while it's in the truck.

It's been so long since I did mine I can't remember it being a big deal. Do the instructions talk about where to drill?

My advice is to drill a smaller hole than what they call for and do a test fit of the grommet. Then sneak up on it if you need to. This needs to be a very tight fit to prevent seepage.

Yup, that's a good tip. My hole is just a tick too big so it seeps a tiny bit, but it has never leaked enough to require fluid being added even after 50k plus miles

Kennedy gave me that tip when I did mine. He had a similar seepage. Not enough to actually make it to the garage floor, but just enough to annoy you when you crawled under it to work on it.

The location of the hole is critical to the operation of the locker. I moved my stop 1 notch higher on the differential case then drilled the hole at 12:00 position and I drilled it lower than what the directions say. The reason was to get the angle of the wires so that even under high RPM the fluid can't push the wires in the direction of the ring gear bolts.

Installing the grommet, I probably was a little anal about all of this but I drilled the hole 1 size smaller than what the directions say then I use anaerobic sealer to lube the grommet and slide it through. You don't need a lot, just a little on the center of the grommet. When the grommet comes through the case, the sealer gets pushed to the bottom of the grommet and creates a tight seal. Just remember, the wires are a little harder to get to so make sure to install the connector on the wires before installing the 3rd member back in the vehicle.
