: Gauges + Attitude?

I'm new here, so take it easy on me for a while!

I've already picked up a bunch of valuable info, but I'm trying to gain all the knowledge I can before purchasing my first Duramax.

I've noticed that several of you guys have an Attitude moniter in addition to analog pillar-mounted gauges. I'm curious about the reason for this. Can someone please explain?

From what I've learned so far, it looks like the Juice/Attitude is the ticket for me. I don't want to go hog wild and risk blowing this puppy up, so the Juice looks like a wise choice.

At this point, I can't afford to and don't want to modify the stock Allison. When I'm running empty and use good judgement with my right foot is there any risk of burning up the stock Alli on moderate levels? I don't plan on using the 125 HP setting all the time, but I would like to be able to use it without fear of bad things happening!

Thanks in advance, I'm sure I'll have many more questions!

I think the pillar gauges are for Tranny temp. and maybe an additional EGT (one pre and one post turbo?)

I run on level 3 every day and level 2 when towing. I occasionally run 5 to show someone whos bosshttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif. I've had the juice for about 6000 miles now and have never limped or anything at all.

Mostly though, I use the power on the run. Meaning I avoid hard launches unless theres a reason.

I think that a large % of the folks that have A-pillar mounted guages had them "before" EDGE came out with the Attitude. However, there are quite a few that run the Juice stacked with other programs or switch from this to that or it's the fact that the Juice Attitude "limmits" their EGT's to 1,500, which kills them on hard 1/8-1/4 mile runs. An un-corked Juice stacked with about anything can hit 1,800 + pretty easy. The temps will climb with a good tranny because it won't limp. {Sun Cost recomended} (http://www.suncoastconverters.com) Now, there are some folks that don't want the Attitude guages and oopt for A-pillar guages. These guages do need removal pryer to service and will not affect your warrenty. And of course there are the people that just can't see those little frick'n numbers and get "analog" guages. Analog guages are bigger and much easyer to read or estimate.

if you do get "Juiced".... get the Attitude. I got it and it works GREAT!

First off.....WELCOME, http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif

Gauges are easier to read then the Attitude Display.......most of us put them in long beforem the Attitude was available.

If you want the tranny to live...stay with a regular Juice with attitude, keep it on the 90hp setting.........no power braking, etc.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Embarrased.gif

If you do that the tranny has a chance.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Confused.gif

After you limp or ZING it a few times it is damaged.

The best advice would be a transgo kit first before MOD's with a single or triple lock converter.

Diesel power here is holding 440++ RWHP and over 900 ++ LB/FT of torque with a Single disk and Transgo with the flow valve.

Good Luck........

The attitude will only go up to about 26 lbs of boost . THe pod guages will go to 35 or whatever. The attitude reads off the trucks computer and the pods read right from the intake.

Alright, thanks for the replies everyone.

I want this truck to last for many years and at least 150,000 miles, so I'm obviously not going for an all out race machine. It will be my daily driver, and it must remain very dependable and worry-free.

In your honest opinion, are my engine and tranny going to suffer in the long run if I add just and Juice/Attitude and use my head. I tend to go pretty easy on my vehicles, but I love having all that power on hand when I want it!

If I do decide to go with a tranny upgrade, I will likely get it first along with gauges BEFORE I "chip" the truck.

I'm not too comfortable installing these mods on my brand new truck, so who is a good place to have install a Suncoast setup in western Montana?

Hey Kid..... remeber that "content" with power is almost nonexistant. You'll be accustom to the "extra power" really quick. Next thing you know you'll be running in 90HP or better all the frick'n time. Do the guages an worry about what you're destroying.... that will keep the power adders on a lower setting and help your truck to last a long time.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Wink.gif

Looked in here because I was trying to find if there was a problem running a guage off of the same pyro as the attitude? I remember there being disscusion but never remember what the final verdict was if it would give accurate readings or nothttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Confused.gif

It is my recomandation to not go over the 90hp level juice. Also the allison is a learning transmission. If you get it all trained to live with a certian level and then bump it up and down its constantly trying to learn and its getting freaked out. (if its trained to deal with lower levels and you bump it up it will slip and if you go the oppisite way it will shift harder than needed) So I would say stick it in 90 or 70 if you are a bit more tame and leave it there. Dont back it down unless you are towing big. I backed mine down for the winter/plow season but was mindfull not to go WOT with it at the lower level. Bumped up the power and went WOT and it still shifted crisp. Its a matter of load/throttle position ect for its learning. I dont know what everybody says that when they drive like an old man the alli learns this and starts shifting softer??? I think its what they tell themselvs and thier wives so they feel better about flogging thier truck to "keep it trained"
