I have an 06 GMC 2500HD SLE. This truck is pretty much loaded but does not have the passenger side key hole/lock, (that option is not available with the SLE package). I have had the truck since last November, and annoyed I cannot get into the pass side without the key, (clicker only). I never realized how much I unlocked the passenger side of my old truck with my key until I lost that ability with this new truck. Most times, I don't like carrying that durn clicker since I already have enough keys and stuff in my pockets already.
My question is: Can I install a passenger side key hole on the truck just like the driver's side, using the same key code? What does it entail?

A lot of new cars don't have key holes in the passanger side. Probably not easy to do.

From an anti-theft position, you're better off with just the driver side lock. One less lock that get twisted off by a thief. Even better is keyless entry. But if you need that passenger side door lock, you will need a 2003 or earlier passenger side door handle; another door lock; the necessary door linkage to hook everything up. Salvage yard is probably your best bet for the hardware.

I do not think the actual latch/lock actuator is different on the trucks w/o lock cylinder on pass side so you would just need the handle, lock cylinder & lock rod. If that is all that is needed then it will probably take around 40 min

your gonna have 2 different keys unless you get the drivers lock and ingnition switch from the wrecked truck or can get a lcok cylinder made that fits your key
other than that you need the rod from a older truck or a no pl truck and the handle

It will take the dealer like 5 min to code a new lock cylinder to your old key.

Thanks Guys, I will go to the junkyard, get the parts and give it a whirl. Then get the dealer to set the lock cylinder to fit my original key. You all helped me a lot...Good advise...
