Ok, I've searched the GM owners manual and archives. I find it amazing that the owner's manual doesn't list a front/rear diff fluid capacity, just the lube type. I want to make sure I have enough on hand before I drain the old stuff. Anybody know about how many quarts I'll need for the front & rear diffs (G80) on an '04 2500HD 4x4?

GM says the rear is 3.78 quarts to about 1/2 inch below the fill hole, most are just using 4 quarts and bringing it up to the hole.


I can't remember the front exactly, but two quarts is real close, a hair over the stated capacity IIRC.
