Happened last week and took it to a good dealer from recommendation. They said they couldn't tell if any diesel was in the oil but I disagree because I checked it before I took it to them and it was over full and I do all my oil changes. The oil pressure when warm is barly 15-20 psi and the oil smells like fuel to me. Anyway I have 110k on it and it has been just dieing at low RPMs over the course of the last few months just a couple of times. It would start right back up and have no problems. I have an Edge but took it off several weeks ago and have the exact same symtoms. Well on a 98-100 degree weather day a week ago I left the office and got about 200 yards away and truck died....Would not start back and finally I pumped the filter housing pump and it hit a couple of times and then went immediatly into limp mode. Ran like crap for the 20 mile trip home on 18psi oil pressure and I ran the codes and gave me a 2 codes but cant remember them right now but will post a little later when I am back at the house and look for sure. Anyway got my dads 02' dmax and trailer and towed it to the dealer and they had it for week and a half and said only thing it showed was a injector 5 history or something like that but the other injectors were fine. Also they said a wire to one of the injectors was bad so the replaced it and alls well.
Well went last night and picked it up right before they closed and drove out the dealer parking lot into a movie theater to watch and movie with the wife and the truck dies and would not start back. I had let it idle for about 20 minutes before we pulled off so it was up to temperature. I also looked down and oil pressure was 15-20 psi or so also. I was so dang mad I paid $300 for a injector wire replacment and what ever recall stuff they did I just went into the theater and watched a movie and came bacl out and it cranked right up and seem to do fine. Oil pressure up good to around 40 at idle and 60 on accel. so I drove it back across the street ot dealer and parked it and its there now. It will not be seen until Monday but can't chance it, I live 50 miles from this dealer and don't want a huge tow bill too. Anyway they said they drove it around and no probs, but how come I getin it and problems. They did change the fuel filter on recall for me and the tech said it was driven at least 10 minutes after words so they didn't see and problems in the future. I have searched symtoms on injectors, edge electronics, filter housings and seem they all have the same issues except injectors leak fuel and thin your oil out. I am using Mobil1 15w-40 truck/SUV oil and have since I bought it 2 years ago and oil pressure been fine. Any tips or tricks I need to know and if it is injectors then will they be covered. I don't have 4 grand to spend on injectors so any help would be appreciated. Also i live in East Tennessee if anyone has a dealer suggestion. God Bless and thanks in advance.
