My 01 has been at the dealer since last Friday 5/21. They said the #4 injector was bad and ordered all 8. Today they called and said I have a broken push rod. Since it wasn't running bad when I dropped it off, I went to the dealership to have a look for myself. Seems the weld broke at the top part of the push rod where the piece that pushes the rocker arm joins the hollow push rod tube. (Can you tell I am not a wrench turner)


Anyone ever see or hear of this before, or just a rare instance?


I did look at the head since the valve cover was off and everthing looked fine. Is there anything I should double check before they button it up? The new part is on order and they expect to have it Tuesday.


I hope to have my baby back next Wednesday. Glad I wasn't planning to get the camper out this weekend!!!

Sounds good and bad, first, Its good that they caught it, second, I have to wonder how they caught it, you dont have to touch the pushrods to replace the injectorshttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Confused.gif

The dealer said when they pulled it in this morning to replace the injectors it started making a god awful sound. When they took the valve cover off they could tell the push rod was not sitting correctly. I talked to the tech and he said he had never seen anything like it before. He also said it didn't appear to hurt anything.

Yes, the rancher down the road had it happen on his 01 last yr. Stopped running at about 45kmiles. Thot to be injectors but the bolt holding the rockarm assy broke allowing it to move away (all this 2nd hand hearsay). The head was also cracked and was replaced & they replaced all injectors.
