I was all set to order a 2500 GMC D-Max but then I saw that the Silverado was getting a cosmetic makover for 2005. I need to see it so I can decide. The local Chevrolet dealer has no clue.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Confused.gif

I beleive one of the "RUMORED" changes is the return of the 01-02 styled bulged hood.

I am sure the improvements will be nice........

Me, I would buy the GMC http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif

The picture that dMaxCruiser posted would be either an '01 or '02. BUT after looking up the link that dMaxCruiser posted, I am not sure whether if it is the actual picture of '05 because I see some pictures of '01-'02 style and also '03-'04 style, so it may make me think that whoever built this page may have used the pictures laying around from the past instead of the actual '05 photos. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Confused.gif

OK GMC guys, follow me on this one........

Had my truck in the shop last week to get the T/H problem looked at. They gave me a 2004 Chevy Silverado to drive for the night. After looking over my nice rounded hood for several months, having to look at the butcher job they did on the hood/headlight section of that Chevy was just brutal. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/HiHi.gif I couldn't look at the road half the time, I was too busy staring at that what looked like a cliff or drop off from the center of the hood to the left third of it. Then you run your eyes back up the incline as you go to the outer part of the hood, no thanks. http://dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Thumbs%20Down.gif If that 2005 looks the same or even resembles the '04 in the front, DO NOT ORDER THAT TRUCK!!!!

The GMC's just "Got More Character".http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cool.gif

Your right on that one, I'm still not convinced that I'm used to this new weird style yet. I hope the raised hood will make it better, It has a nice look right in the front if more people would put bugshields on them. The side just looks like it's turning into a car though, Needs a mean growling truck look. Don't slope the front end down like that.

Z71 Grizzly

Did sales of 03/04's drop off? IF they did, they might return to the high hood (Chev) I don't care for the 03/04's, myself.
Could be injector issues (if sales dropped off)

25 days until the new HD Chevrolet Silverados roll down the assembly line and still no picture. I cannot understand why they don't want to promote their new product that can be currently ordered.

Ford has pics out for their truck redesign.

I am going to tell my wife to go with the GMC and forget the Chevrolet. The longere we wait the longer it will take to get here.

seehad
06-04-2004, 11:55 AM
From Chevy's point of view, I would think they would make one last push to get almost all '04s off the lots before announcing a more desireable front end. With the problems Ford has had with their PowerStroke, they probably don't care if the 05 steals sales from their 04 just so long as they are selling.

Max Owner
06-04-2004, 12:12 PM
Seehad make the point that makes the most sense. Get rid of any 04's first. Its harder to sell them, if people know there is a nicer lookin truck coming.

Seriously though, ordered my GMC 2005 2500HD CC 6 weeks ago, still can't get any info on them. GMC must think they have a winner on their hands with the 2005's to feel the need to exhaust their sales on the 2004's before releasing any info.

The current 2004 sales incentives end on August 2,I look for more '05 info after that date - some hefty rebates on the 2005's would be nice!! http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Confused.gif

Just left my dealer - was there trying to get info on my '05. He had none, but while I was there a truckload of DMAX's rolled in which was his last order to fill of the 2004's. All but 3 were already sold and he doesn't expect those three to last thru the night.

He says that info on 2005's can't be far behind because this batch of 04's were built after the 2 week factory shutdown and his order was placed with the factory right before the '04 cut-off order date in May which means they are finishing up the last of the '04 orders.

You really think they are gong to give hefty rebates on 05's? I find that hard to believe. I heard the good rebates would be gone Aug 02 and the dealer didn’t' t think they would be as good next month- of course that's coming from a dealer-So I guess that info is pretty worthless- LOL. But seriously he thought they may be back down to 3g or so. Still not too bad I guess

Naaaah...I don't expect a hefty rebate on the 2005, just wishfull thinking.

I got a good look at the 2005 Chevy 2500HD D/A at work today and I didn't like it. Those headlights have got to go. The hood looks identicle to a 2001 HD which is a plus but it didn't look good with the rest of the front end. Also, the hood is raised quite a bit all the way back to the windshield. Where it meets the cab of the truck there is like a 3" gap down to the wiper/vent area. It looks unfinished in this area. The new grill looks wimpy now. I prefered the large solid bar of the 04's. For those of you who would want to replace your current 04 hood with the 05 it looks like it would be simple.

Nah, blurry vision is just another symptom of the Blue Oval Disease. The new hood does give a better overall look. I agree that the grill is a step backwards. It appears, though, that the hood is cut with a straight line across the front, on top of the grill. My '04's hood bevels up and then across the top of the grill. That would probably present a problem with simple exchange. I'll bet it is a perfect match otherwise. Now, if you could cut down the top of the grill it might work. Having that hood just might make it worth the work.
