I have a buddy just put the DSP2 switch in his 02 Duramax lastnight and this morning his battery was dead???? Any ideas?

Not likely related. Put an ammeter on the battery line and see if the amperage increases with the dsp2 switch on.

That is a new one. Unless he installed the wire into the wrong pin assignment.

Did he leave EFILive plugged into the truck all night?

no.. he only installed the pin and the switch. I will have him double check the pin he put it in.

I left EFI plugged in for two days and it drained both batteries to less than 6 volts. I was suprised that it would draw that much current plugged in by itself (no computer).

It may be related in the sense that he needs new batteries, and playing around with the programming was enough to kill them. I know! I need batteries also.

I can leave the laptop on and the cable plugged in the the obdII 24/7 and not have an issue, but leaving the inverter on is a different story. If its less than 8 hrs it will start. 10 or more is a maybe. Lucky I have a 200 amp charger that gets her going in about 5 min.

I have an EFILive adaptor in my LS1 car all the time, it gets driven maybe 3 times a week tops, I've never had a flat battery. The actual current draw of the EFILive adaptor is so small it would take months to drain a battery (esp the BIG ones in Diesel trucks).

Maybe he ran a light off the battery whilst wiring it, left the radio going for a few hours up loud whilst installing it?

Cheers,
Ross

Even tho we have two batteries in the Duramax, The truck will not start once the voltage drops below about 10.5-11 volts. (It takes alot to start a diesel!)
And these batteries are only good for about 4-6 year reguardless how much/little you drive them.
