Where are you guys with the J/A setting your warning for engine temps? Mine is set at 210, but a couple of times while towing last weekend the alarm went off for engine temps. Sometimes it got up to 216, but it really didn't seem to me that the engine was working real hard even then, plus when the fan kicked on that temp dropped real fast. If I set the alarm to go off at say 216-218, will I be hurting the engine to get it that hot?
Thanks for any input.

It looks like the guage redlines at 260 - I would assume that is when the "alarm" goes off in stock form. My truck will run at 210 sometimes - setting your "trip point" for the alarm at 216 seems low to me.

I was wondering why the alarm comes preset from edge at 210 degrees. It just started making me wonder that they knew something I didn't. That wouldn't be hard to do, I know.
Thanks for the reply.

Engine temp....... hummm, I don't know. However, I think that water boils @ 215 degree's at sea level (14.1 lbs or 1 bar I think). If our cooling system is "under pressure" then we....er, the motor should be able to acheeve around 240 degree's before any dammage. I think the only thing that you might loose is the "oil life", high heat does bad things to oil.
