I did not realize that GM had crept up on Ford so quickly in
the 3/4 and 1 ton market. If I remember correctly, Ford had over
60% while Dodge had somewhere around 25% and GM picked up the rear
with 10%-15%in the Heavy Duty pickup truck market. I see why Ford
and Dodge has been doing so many changes as of late. And looking
back to before Dodge changed their trucks in 1994, Ford had nearly
70%. So I can see why Ford is worried about market share.
I would like to know if there are anymore power/torque
improvements for 2005. I have heard about the sheet metal changes
and sun roof added as an option, but other then that, What is
there? And which of these truck companies will be first to step up
to the plate and install Boost and Exhaust gas temperature gages?
I think these are a most have.
I found this snippet on another forum the other day. (I did not
read the article mentioned below, There for I can not validate the
accuracy of it.)
"There was an article in the Wall Street Journal a few days
ago, it was about the 2005 SD.
Fords says that it believes that the redesign will allow it to
reduce the rebates on the SD.
The article also said that Ford has a 45% share of the HD pickup
market and that GM has 38%, which is up from 12% before the Dmax
was introduced.
Both GM and Dodge have said that they have announcements to make
about improvements to their 2005 HD trucks, so better things from
GM and DCX are still to come."
