I think he is referring to the Edje Juice problem. Ive never experienced it, but many here have.

I just recieved a new box from Edge yesterday. Justin at Edge says it is a for sure fix. It is version 4.81i. Said it was produced 05/20/2004 on the sticker. Justin said more was done with timing, and a hardware update was done. He did not elaborate on what hardware in the Juice module was updated. I have only had it one day, but did 8 short trip errands today, and it worked like a dream. No waiting at all to start the warm truck on my part....hit the seat and turn the key. Truck seems to start quicker and (seat of the pants) seems more responsive at the same level of power.I have been trying to get it to no start and cannot. Edge was great sent me the new box and paid to ship the other one back. I was without Juice for <10 minuteshttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif!!! I am leaving for the Outer Banks NC Sunday. 7-8 hour trip should be a good test of getting things really heat soaked. I will post more if I have any issues.Otherwise, assume it is fixed. Justin said the boxes produced on the 20th were the first with the hardware upgrade. Now that I have had that Juice power, I couldn't ever go back stock!!

Hopefully it is a fix. I'm waiting for some definite answers, before I spring for one.

Ok, thanks for the info. Mine was produced in April (04/2004 date code) but how do I tell what version
it is? The Attitude is showning something like 1.0X
which is the version of the Attitude I assume...

Thanks for any insight!

There are stickers located on both the Juice and Attitude monitor that define the software version loaded in each. The sticker also contains the serial number of the device. For the Juice (which is where 4.81i is used) look on the end of the unit.

Ok question for the Juice experts.

I have the 4.81i and I still have the 'crank with no start' problem when it gets warm. RSday75 said Juice said this was for sure the fix to the problem. He received and new box were they asked my to send in mine for a reflash.

Could my box be the problem and also this version 4.81i is it the same as mine or are there changes to it?

Thanks

He indicated they also did a hardware change/mod. Did they do that to your box?

Looks like were getting closer to a resolution of this problem, but not quite yet.

Nope, all they did was re-flash mine had it back in a few days. But what worries me is we have the same version 4.81i. If they did all these changes I would think this number would also change. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Confused.gif

Hope we can get some answers from the experts on site about the version numbers.

Thanks again for all the info.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif

Also, I have noticed that if it starts up the first time when it is hot the level of power does not really seem to be all there. Just what I noticed.

The temp of the Juice box when I shut her down yesturday was 107deg. More FYI, who knows if thi will all help.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cry.gif

I just checked mine, it was manufactured on
04/02/2004 and is v4.81i. I too would
EXPECT to see a new sticker with
a different date code if there WAS
a hardware change - or either a change
to the "EJC 1000" code or the Serial Number.

Are you sending your box back to Edge Products? or
just the vendor you bought it from? I would
think it would be Edge directly...

FWIW, even with the v4.81i I still experence
the no-start conditions at least 2-3 times a week.
This is VERY annoying. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Disapprove.gif

Thanks for any info.

Yes, I sent mine to Edge and still have the 4.81i with the crank-no-start issue. It could be we have bad boxes? Or could they have just given me a new sticker?

I am still very surprised that NO ONE KNOWS THE ANSWER TO MY QUESTION.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Shocked.gif

Funny how quick everyone was to tell us this problem was happening to only a small % of Juice boxes out there. Then the pole shows 1 in 3 have this problem. Now we can not get a simple answer to what this version number means.

I guess I will be calling Edge on Tuesday. Not that I can really "trust" them either....they told me this new version would fix the problem.

Thanks for reading my vent. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gifEdited by: NoWake200

NoWake200; Sorry that I can not help you. I just wanted you to know that there are people reading this thread.

One thing I have noticed over the few years I have been reading these type of forums, is that some so called experts are very quick to call you (you in a generic form) a nut and tell you that there is nothing wrong with something. And once it is found out that there is in deed a problem, they seem to clam up tighter then a frogs rear end. I am not naming names, but they know of whom I speak of.

I do not own the Juice with an Attitude, however; from what I understand the problem lies within the Attitude. (I have not heard of any problems while running the Juice alone) So I have too question the thinking on Edge`s part about adjusting the timing.

when it gets hot and you have a no start its not a software prob. that is alllllllll hardware and there is something in these boxes thats differant than some other boxes such as mine. its goin to be some electronic part that may be the same looking part but made from a differant company that wont handle the heat.

I called Edge Products last week about that issue and they told me that there is an harware upgrade involved in fixing those boxes. I think only the "Attitude Ready" boxes are having problems.

Since I have heard of people having the 4.81i and still having the problem so I'm going to wait to send the box since I wouldn't be able to part with it twice in a year.

I hear ya - it's just so DANG ANNOYING when it
happens though. Did it to me twice just today. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Disapprove.gif

Sure wish someone from EP would post and tell us
they've come up with the "silver bullet" (so to
speak) for this problem....

Anyone have any more insight on this hardware change?
Does it entail a new box? or does EP open up the
customers box & whip out the ol' soldiering iron?http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif

Thanks for any insight,

T.(glad I don't have to hand crank it)

I was also having the no start problems with my box. It was version 4.81i, I sent my original box in to get the attitude upgrade done. Within a week a started having the no start problems with it. I called and talked to Justin and he sent me out a new box and told me they fixed the problem. The new box I got is version 4.81i also, but it has a newer build date. He told me from beginning of May (I don't remember the exact date) on they have been fixed. I have had the new box for 2 weeks now and no problems. As for the cause of the problem, he told me it was hardware related, but we didn't get into it.

Well, I spent a week at the beach. Long trips and several short little trips. Some with a cold truck, and others with attitude showig 195 degrees. My Juice has a 05/20/2004 build date. In the conditions I ran in this past week I would have had the no start if it was going to happen. With the new build, all is fine. I had not one single peep out of the truck the whole 1386 miles. 2 HWY tanks of fuel, and 1 entire tank burned on shorter sight seeing trips. Average across 3 tanks for entire trip was 19.75 miles to the gallon. Highest was 20.9. (Checked at the pump). So, the May 3004 build date seems to be the key in the fix.....at least for me.
