I'm in the process of trying to build a front bracket in time for Terre Haute. I have a brush guard that I wanna try and leave on. There seems to be plenty of room. Any body have any ideas or pictures I could use for a blue print? Here is a pic of what I'm working with. Thanks!!

Nathan,

If you take the brush guard off we might have one that fits your truck.

The problem with leaving the guard on is I believe you can not be farther than 60" from center of front hub to end of weights.

Not to take away from your question, but did you beef your tie rob ends for pulling. I've broke mine twice this week using stock ones pulling any answers?

To your question JKPIPE....YES! Talk to one of the supporting vendors, they can set you up. I always have great luck with No Limit Diesel Performance. I am thinking of mounting the weights sideways Howling to get around the brush guard issue, plus maximize getting the weight out front farther. I just haven't decided on a design yet.

Justin Burns mounts his sideways.

Let me find a pic. of it-

That is pretty close to what I am after. The only thing I would have to change is coming up higher. Justin has a lift on that truck. I bought all of the steel today.

1"x3" Square tube fits nice and tight in the frame rails. Just be sure that whatever you use, to slide it in far enough to get under the round tube that goes through the frame. Makes the mounting very strong and bolt or pin can be used just to keep it from sliding out.

Its the only way to fit the 2 turbos and the Sigma pump.

It does help with smoke heightness too, Ted might of got me saturday night with smoke heightness, I'll have to rework some things.

kyle why isnt your hood closed. is that to get more air flow to shoot the smoke higher in the air. crowd pleaser):h

The hood isn't closed because the Crankitup guys are completely ignorant to the fact that if you want some sweet cold air flow all they would need to do is remove that headlight! In fact if you really want some added HP you need to remove the light and replace it with a shiny piece of chrome and add a Banks sticker! Both are worth 50hp each. That's why "Climax" surprises me so much, even with all that quailty Banks equipment the smoke is just terriable. Which just proves that the "headlight air-turbulence effect" is plaguing this truck.:stirthepo :flipa:

If I had a truck that ran like climax I wouldn't want to be categorized as ignorant. The crankitup boys have a lot more going on under that hood to overlook pulling out the headlight JFaulkner. As far as Banks goes, everyone already knows that Kyle is running a custom Hypertech!

Very nice! I'd like to see some detailed pictures. Looks like something I would like to build for my truck.

Also, if you can, it would be better to put the pasenger side weight on the inside. (To get them closer to the driver side!) The torque of the enginge tend to pick up on the driver side more then the passenger side. I know it isn't as bad on a IFS truck, but it is still there.
How much are those weights? 80#ers

If you drive your truck much, you will want to stick with the AT's. The STS's are made from a very soft rubber, and will last about 1/3 to 1/2 as long as the BFG AT's. And besides that, the AT's are a great pulling tire, maybe not the best in every situation, but great all around. And you will get 70,000 miles on the street from a 35/12.50. The STS's will be shot in about 25-35 thousand miles.

I have also read (and seen on one occation!) about lugs being ripped off the tires in some situations at truck pulls. Maybe it's an isolated problem, I don't know.

nwpadmax
08-23-2006, 11:10 PM
Nick, the STSes come in 35-12.50-17s, and new are 35.1" dia. vs. 34.6" (I think) for the BFG AT. They're a little bigger, but they don't have a squared off shoulder as the AT, so they fit about the same (tight!).

I have a spare set of H2 rims that I put the STSes on, and I haul them. They have never seen pavement ever. And I plan on keepin' 'em that way.

The ATs are strictly a road / backup tire now. No plans to go back. I'm totally impressed at how good the STSes hook. Lots of competitors here run them.

Mike, NO ONE I know of gets 70k on BFG AT's. I put mine on in May and they are half gone. Many of the guys at work get only 30k on them. If you're getting 70k, well, you're a blessed man, because that's a miracle.

Like nwpadmax said just try them out and you won't be disappointed. They really are an awesome tire. I do agree about the longevity of the sts. They are very soft for every day driving.

thanks guys.. my bfg 35's are only on the truck long enough to drive to the pull and drive home.. then they come off and my 33" at's go back on.. now i just need another set of h2 rims to try some sts's!

Mat, I have been running the BFG AT's in sizes ranging fron 33x11 to 37x12.5 for over 1,100,000 miles, and the least miles I have ever got was the 285/75/16's on this truck, and it was just over 64,600 miles. (And that was a lot of spinnin' and not enough rotating.) On the 1/2 ton trucks I always got 90,000+
I am on my 13th set. (So as you can see, I am sold on there performance and mileage.)

I know of several smaller vehicles (Like the Jeep Liberty) that has gotten over 110,000 miles from a set of 305/70/16's. And everyone I have ever talked to about them claim 80,000+.
I have over 6,500 miles on my new set plus 3 hooks of over 250' each, and there is no sign of wear.
