Every couple of days when I first start the truck, it runs for about 10 or 15 seconds then dies. The first time it did it I mistakenly had it towed to a shop. $ 185.00. They didn't know what was wrong but they got it running. Now I get out and push the prime on the filter and it will restart and keep running untill it does it again. Question is, could this be a bad injector or the filter?http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Ermm.gif

It sounds like you have an air leak that is causing it to loose prime. Check the water drain on the fuel filter to make sure that is closed all the way and also check the bleed screw (o-ring might be bad). Have you added any secondary filtration? If so, check the connections to make sure they are tight.

I have this same thing happen on my older Chevy pickup. I have finally tracked it down to a cracked hose doing exactly what Darin talks about. When it sits the fuel line just bleeds off and the system has to be primed everytime it sits for a while.

Good Luck!

yes air would be my first guess indeed.

check the top and bottom of your fuel filter. the o-ring can come out of alignment during installation causing this problem.

I had this same problem over the past several months. My dealership has replaced the primer pump & the oem filter.I was having the problem before & after installing the mega filter.I hope the last thing they replaced ( some tube in the fuel system ) fixed the problem.

good luck!

have seen a few bleed screws missing the o-ring causes air leaks..
