: Trailer Light adapters
wackoTX 08-09-2006, 12:29 AM Are the '06 suppose to come with a 7-pin/4-pin changer for lights if trailer tow package was bought. I have the pig tail for the controller
Dealer says no they dont do that anymore, i think once again i have been lied to. Small cheap part, but its the principal of it:mad:
sixxgunscott 08-09-2006, 12:32 AM I didn't get one with my '06. Never thought to ask the stealer if I should have received one. Next time I'm there I will twist his arm for one.
gearhead 08-09-2006, 09:48 AM in 03 WE did not even get the trailer harness
hrleyrider 08-09-2006, 10:18 AM don't get an adapter on 06, i used the one that came with my 02, different wiring harness but the adapter works fine.
Redbugdave 08-09-2006, 10:10 PM Hi there WackoTX,
I have an 06 with trailer package. I was wondering the same thing and asked the dealer about the connector when I ordered my truck. The dealer said "no".
So...this is what I got from Northern:

DMAX154 08-09-2006, 10:37 PM WOW I can't belive you guys didn't get them. I bought an 02 gasser and got both adapter and wire harrness, also got both when I bought 05 DA. Didn't have to ask to get either one on either truck. I would like to see GM start to build the brake boxes into the trucks like F*rd has done.
radar1053 08-09-2006, 11:15 PM Just an fyi for those who need the adapter. I have wired my truck to match my camper and I bought the adapter and dont need it. PM me and we will make it work for you

tbusciglio 08-10-2006, 07:07 AM Hi there WackoTX,

Just go to an autoparts store or Walmart. They have ones that are all 1 piece without the pigtail for less than $10. They also have leds in them that light up to test wiring on trucks without actually hooking up a trailer or grabbing a testlight.
BigBill1963 08-10-2006, 08:57 AM That's crazy, my 05 came with one, I guess spending all that money doesn't justify a $10 adapter! That's cheap & cheezy
DMAX154 08-10-2006, 09:11 AM yes it is cheap and cheesy. How ever GM has been in trouble and or still is. The part is very cheap and can easily be found. But it probally saved the General several million dollars by not giving it to you. The same reason that they got rid of the passenger side key hole on the new trucks. .25 each X 5000000 trucks = 1.25 million saved.
Redbugdave 08-10-2006, 09:38 AM Ohhhhh Lordy DMAX...don't get me started about the passenger side key hole! What a pain in the a** it is. I STILL keep walking up to the passenger side to unlock the door. I never realized how much I used the passenger side until I lost that ability with this new truck. I don't like carrying that clicker since I already have enough keys and stuff in my pockets. They really made a MISTAKE on that one! And that d*mn door chime!!!!
Max Power 08-10-2006, 09:42 AM You could add the passenger side lock Redbugdave. Personally I don't use either lock and actually have my driver lock removed to prevent break ins.
Redbugdave 08-10-2006, 10:42 AM Hi Max Power,
I am very interested in that! How do I do it? Maybe we should start a new topic...since we do not want to hijack WackoTX's thread...
DMAX154 08-10-2006, 11:11 PM Sounds like a good idea. I will start one in "off topic"
Yamsi401 08-11-2006, 08:17 AM WOW I can't belive you guys didn't get them. I bought an 02 gasser and got both adapter and wire harrness, also got both when I bought 05 DA. I agree with this one! Nice that the Duramax/Allison engine brakes in TOW MODE but an on-board electric brake controller would top the cake. That was the only reason I was considering a Ford when truck shopping.
