hey im a new member to this site, so bare with me while i learn the ropes around here....

I have a ton of questions about diesel trucks...i hope yall can help me out, im sure alot of it is basic knowledge to most of you, but iv gotta start somewhere.

First things first...

I dont have a truck yet, im planning on getting one within a month or two..(2004 dmax/6spd 2500 short bed..... so i cant go out front and work on one, so for now im just trying to become as educated as i possibly can...

Whats the first things you should do to a new diesel?

Iknow that guages are important so im guessing to start there? whats good to have besides pyro? any particular brands better than others?

2. I LOVE loud trucks, my gasser now is straight piped and i love the screaming sound, so im sure that would be high on my list of things to do b.c i cant stand a quiet vehicle....http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif What sounds the best on the new lly's? i like to hear the turbo, and i love a powerfull sounding diesel... whats my best bet? and what is diesel drone that everyone talkes about? is it good, bad or just prefrence?

3. MORE POWER!!! whats out there allready for more power? i know that alot of companys are keepin low profile now b.c its so knew, but whos allready out there? whos the best? of all the performance upgrades, what/who gives you the most bang for the buck?

4. What are common problems i should expect from these trucks? i know there are flukes just like ford and dodge, but in generall, whats gonna happen to this beast?

5. Ill be honest, i like the new powerstrokes, i wont lie...i love the way that thing rockets when the turbo spools up, and i like the fact that they are easy to lift..... I just cant get over the ride quality of the chevy i love the smoothness, and driver comfort......Would someone do a pro's/con's list that has owned or driven both to a knowledgeable extent....

Thanks for your help! im sure ill be around for a while to come

Welcome

1) Get it and drive it ....

2) Straight pipe gasser ?? Anyway a straight piped Diesel will be some what quieter do to the turbo ... There are many options to exhaust systems or just hack away ...Remember you will have a cat so watch for inspections and emission compliance ...

3)Not much for the LLY yet but coming .... Edge hasn't released there chip yet ,TTS has a beta or two out and Quadzilla ,Bullydog have released a chip ... Read the forum for more info ...

4)I would just add secondary filtering ,other then that the Silverado Duramax Allison is a great combo and truck ... Plenty of personal tweaking options can be done ..

5)This is a Pro GM forum ... You don't expect a lot of positive feed back do ya ... You certainly wont get it from me ... The 6 peter is still plauged with issues of reliability ....

Good luck
