I Just Traded My `01 Reg Cab In For A `04 LB7 GMC Ex-Cab.

The `01 Reg Cab Has Been Thrashed To No End. Tranny Is Very Easy To Limp, Compression In Coolant Tank, And Warped Rotors To Start. It's Been A Plow Truck, A Peterbuilt When Needed, And Chased A Stray Cow Or Two Through The Fields At Mach 1. It Should Be Easy To Spot With The Cocky Sticker In The Rear Window, But Just In Case Here's A Picture.

LOL! Great post!

I know I would appreciate it if I were in the market for a used truck in the area. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Clap.gif

The dealer will be wondering Why the heck nobody will even look at that truck! lol!

If you see a tan colored regular cab 2001 4x4 covered in racing decals steer clear of that one toohttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/HiHi.gif

And, you can't tell always by looking, either, except for the stickers. Thats why I would never buy a Duramax that's very old and has very many miles on it. ( I figured 6 months and 18,000 wasn't too bad). Just save money for longer and buy a new or almost new one.

I feel sorry for some of the people who get these things used.

That's why I think they should have a way for the computer to tell if anything other than the stock programming has been used. I'm not a programmer, but it just seems like it couldn't be all that difficult for them to incorporate something like that into the software. Then the next buyer would know.

Or they should post the age of the previous owner on every used vehicle. If its anything below 30 or 35 you know not to buy it.

Or, its wise to just choose a used one that's less likely to have been bought by a young person. I figured not many young people ( besides me) are going to buy a long bed 2wd, so I felt a little safer.

Burner,

Give me a break man I've only had the thing 4 days, is this better? 285 Nittos. Amazing what a little window tint, tortion adjustment, and tire swap will do huh?

Don't see to many young folk in these parts that can afford a Duramax. Most are middle aged cowboys or yuppies. The youngins' are driving souped up, lifted up half tons. Most don't even know what engine they have under the hood.

.

i think you are way off base on that one bro. lol. most of the guys with bombed D/S trucks are over the age of 40 - since that is the population that can afford 40K trucks and then put 1K dollar stacked programers.

Nice looking truck! It reminds me of the first DMax that I test drove (2002 2wd) that struck my interest. I really love the long beds on the 3/4 ton trucks.

I'm 25 and self employed. I have a 40K+ truck with juice and the rest of the junk. It's not that hard to get some credit. I also just bought a 60K Telehandler for work. I also guarantee that all of you are harder on your trucks than I am. I use mine for work, not drag racing.....right now anywayshttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif

I'll agree with gator on this one!! I'm 22 at the moment and my truck is in alot better shape than the vast majority of the trucks I see driving around my area.

Granted I've only got 25k km's on it, and quite a few of those are off road use, but it's in tip top shape. Not nearly all us young guys are reckless and negligent of our equipment.

I don't mean this to sound too defensive, I know there are alot of young folks out there that have zero respect for their vehicles, but there's just as many trashed trucks out there from older gentlemen, they just know how to fix them more often. I just don't like general statements about young guys and trashed trucks. I think Diesels Forever proved my point quite well.

Cheers everyone!!http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cool.gif

Honesty doesn't always build friendships. People get funny when you get too honest.

Since I traded mine, a few here have done the same. I got grilled about it and how I was supposed to feel guilty or something. Some people try and make you feel like if you don't supply full disclosure even if not asked, you are dishonest.

Enjoy the new ride and forget the old one. BUYER BEWARE! and that goes for brand new too.... any brand.Edited by: hoot

Maybe there should be a poll, if there isnt one already, on the age of the owners on this page. Just a thought...

I'm 19...I drive my truck like a truck is meant to be driven, or should I say the way a chevy is meant to be driven. The way everyone talks up these trucks around here I don't understand why they wouldn't be able to handle the abuse a real work truck should be able to take.

You wouldn't want any of the vehicles after I drove them when I was 19.

Well maybe a couple.. 66 Ford Fairlane GT Convertible, 68 Chevelle SS 396 4spd

yeah you old farts are hard on us young guys~ im only 18 and im buying a 04 lly here within a few months.....i work as a electrician, and i put in the most hours of anyone there thats not a owner....and i have a loooove for my vehicles...ill admit im prolly to particular about the way mine run and look, but i dont trash them by any means.....ill admit, ill be lifting mine when the warrenty runs out, and ill be turnin the heat up as soon as i can after i get it......but i think theres a right and a wrong way to do things.......about disclosure of information, ill be selling a 92 full size blazer here soon, and it runs great, but there are just some minor details missing, that prolly only i notice, but for me its a "dont ask dont tell" deal......anyway, great forum! allways informative~!
