Hi all,

New to the forum and new to diesels as well.

I just recently aquired a 1985 K20 Chevy Suburban 4X4 with the 6.2L "J" code diesel. 119,000 miles, 3-speed auto (not sure which model yet, I have yet to check the ID tag), tow package, 3.73 rear, NP 208 transfer case.

I have a couple of questions:

1. Does diesel fuel go bad if it sits awhile? When I took delivery of the truck, it had a full tank of fuel. I do not know how long the fuel was in the tank, but it was not too awful long. Last night I refilled, and noticed an immediate increase in power. Would "newer" fuel contribute to this? BTW, I changed the fuel filter right after I got the truck.

2. I have seen mention of an aftermarket 2-stage air filter to replace the stock style filter. Can someone supply a part number/manufacturer?

More questions to come! Thanks in advance!

Diesel does go bad, also depending where you live it may have been blended with number 1 diesel to prevent gelling in the winter, that kills power.

I run a K&N maybe someone else can jump in with a better alternative.
