: 4" exhaust on the way
wagonwheeler 08-04-2006, 04:08 PM Ordered the pinnacle after PM's to numerous folks - thanks all.
Snakebit myself in the process. They had a limited offer going - free 5" SS tip w/ system. I had 'em on my ebay watch list till I got the rest of my 'fun money' to order it - which I did this morning. Pulled it up, punched the Buy-It-Now and in my order I asked if the 'free offer' tip was straight cut or angled. They replied that the offer ended 8/3/06  and they removed it from thier listing...:( And the system price went up $10 as well about a week or so ago...:( $40 of value down the drain...
I considered baggin the pinnacle and getting a warpspeed (since they still are including SS tips) but decided to take it on the chin and :grd: .
I'll probably just cut the pipe at an angle w/ my bandsaw anyhow...

strictlydiesel86 08-04-2006, 04:12 PM awesome stuff man! got mine from warpspeed took about 2hrs to intall it. its straight piped though so its loud. im assuming you got a muffled exhaust? i have a couple of friends that i work w/ from valdosta, they go there a couple times a wk.
wagonwheeler 08-04-2006, 04:22 PM Yeah, I'm doing the muffler FWIW. Probably run it teeth forward for a little more sound 'grab'. 4" w/ muffler still probably flows as good as 3.5" straight pipe. Just wanna keep those EGT's cool.
I'll have to give a yell next time I head towards Tallahassee so I can check out your IC. I'd like to do an IC, but live on a pretty sloppy dirt road and I hate to pack it w/ mud...actually I hate the thought of keeping it clear of mud...

GregAbell 08-04-2006, 04:38 PM Pinnacle's muffler has a 4" straight-through opening (it's a Dynamax), with *bumps* all around the inside (the muffler is proably 6 inches or more in outside diameter)
ADP63 08-04-2006, 07:42 PM I installed a 4" pinnicle exhaust. I sounds good but I get a lot of cab noise. For short trips to and from work it is not bad but I think on a long trip it is going to drive me crazy so I will install a dampner of some sort.

sure thing man, just send me a pm and id be happy to let you take a peek @ my setup. im really lookin @ making a custom skid plate w/ louvers or holes in it so i can protect the ic and still get good air-flow. but yeah, shoot me a pm next time your headed down here.
marktara 08-05-2006, 01:23 AM For you members who started with a muffler then went straight pipe did you notice a big drop in EGTs, just wondering if it is worth it as I run a dynomax muffler right now?
strictlydiesel86 08-05-2006, 07:32 AM well honestly, w/ my truck empty, ive never seen my egts higher than 550. dont know about it w/ a muffler but prob pretty close to that.

all thoes mods and still the stock exhaust chrisk1500?
chrisk1500 08-05-2006, 11:06 AM Yep....I'm cheap...lol......no one in my area mandrel bends any exhaust - at least that is what one of the muffler shops told me....I think it is time to order from Warpspeed....
strictlydiesel86 08-05-2006, 12:20 PM yeah ive romped my pedal and it barely got up to 600...maybe like 580. cruising @ 75-80 i see a lil under 550. time for exhaust and ic chrisk.

Pillow 08-05-2006, 05:42 PM I ordered the Jardine 4" straight pipe kit off e-bay last week. It will arrive on the 8th :) They have been great at keeping me updated on the status!
This was with the SS tip. I must have just made the cutoff.
Hopefully it sounds good. Today a FlowerStroke was beside me at a light (pretty tricked up truck) with a huge pipe out the side which sounded SWEET! Puffed black too! I admit I drooled ;)
strictlydiesel86 08-05-2006, 06:08 PM lol...the straight pipe sounds great!!! i love it, low rumble off idle w/ a bit of turbo whistle...then bam! loud whistle and alot of growl! i must admit ive had people approach me in the road askin what i run...and they are amazed that its a 6.5.
wagonwheeler 08-05-2006, 09:04 PM Yeah, they've kept me updated as well. They immediately email me to say the guys were going to *start* making it...(Auction said '4 available' ???) Then emailed me later to say they were out of clamps and hangers and should receive a shipment 8/11 and start shipping orders again 8/14...:(
I does help to know this so I can work on the tractor or something to keep my mind occupied! :) Muct better than wondering.
I know it'll be late and I know I ain't gettin no stainless tip.

Pillow 08-06-2006, 10:20 PM They e-mailed me and said "yes it is in stock and will be shipped"... Like it wouldn't be?
I agree the ad seems to imply an in stock status when in reality they may be more of a build to order thing.
... Waiting stinks :(
stingthieves 08-06-2006, 11:36 PM Today it was raining - so I couldn't paint the house -"rats" so I thought I would finally switch out that pesky Vacuum pump and get my boost back. But I also knew that the exhaust system had some issues [rust holes – cracked weld’s - leaks ecchhh] so I hacked it to bits and grabbed the new take off dBux exhaust system I had in stock. First I torched off the flange of a new Flow master down pipe and welded on a 3 to 4 inch adaptor. I always thought my fab skills were OK but this project sort of taxed my patience. Anyway - way to many hours later I have a sewer pipe size straight pipe system front to back and its all painted with ceramic heat insulating paint. Still haven’t knocked off the vac pump, but tomorrow after work is another day! Can’t wait to hear the result –
Kind Regards,
Rick
BTW _I will never cast dispersions again on the wonders of working on the right side of the engine bay with the wheel well out - I don’t plan on replacing all the bolts because It will be out again when I do maintenance….
