gsxr1216 10-03-2003, 10:13 PM http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cry.gif@^$#&*($())%@$@#%... friggen attitude i got does not work @#$%^)_)()*(*@@@@..... I got a 4.73 box and the attitude in the mail today, all happy to hook them up after rushing home from work and waiting a month for it to show up and see what it does, i plug in the juice, mount it on the fuse cover, run the wire for the attitude through the door, turn on truck attitude display lights up !!!!!!! HEY it WORKShttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif, so i think..... go to change the display so it will show 4 screens, (boost/throttle/egt/temp) and i can scroll down the menu but not select the 4 screen option, go up to the 3 screen option still cannot select it, go to the 2 screen option and it registers, try to access the menu buton again to go to 4 screen and nothing happens, hit enter nothing, hit up, hit down, hit menu, nothing happenshttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Confused.gif... it locked up like a crappy computer without a reset buttonhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Angry.gif!!!!! I unplug it, unplug the juice truck starts up rund fine. Plug juice back in, truck starts up, i program the juice the old way with gear selector and gas pedal and it grunts for setting two that i programmed, at least something works. I program the T/H for setting three and it grunts three times. i shut it off, plug attitude back in fire truck, no buttons on attiutde work. It says power level 0, i do the PRNRP routine to verify power levels and sure enough the truck grunts the power levels i programmed even though the attitude says ZERO power level on the display....... I yanked the attitude from the truck and tested it the juice alone, itworks great, to bad the monitor isn't worth a chit...........http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cry.gifhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cry.gifhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cry.gif.
Anyone have any insight as to why this thing does not work??? i will have to call edge and see whats up on monday i suppose, what a bummer.......
second complaint is the pyro probe having EDGE products stamped on it, I'm sure the dealer will love to see that if the truck has to go in for service, guess i will have to add some heat shield to the length of the probe to cover that!!!!!!
dmaxalliTech 10-03-2003, 10:30 PM Easy fella, you say you cant change power levels?? but all else works? Mine did the exact same thing, A quick call to Kennedy and we determined the truck must be warm some what..at least in my case, let it run for 10 minutes, went back to it and everything worked good...Not sure if is the same for you, but maybe....

Joe E 10-03-2003, 10:40 PM gsxr,
Welcome to the club. I got my (replacement for the nonworking 4.71) 4.73 this morning, plugged it in only to find that the Attitude still had an attitude. I called Edge, they think it's the Attitude itself. This was the "first they'd heard of" - time will tell. Mine has EXACTLY the same symptoms you described. Not like it's really possible to screw it up - there's only one plug to plug in. I get no readings (RPM, etc) on the Attitude, even though the display lights up, etc...http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cry.gif
BTW, Con has been EXCELLENT in support (and a GREAT price!!!), and is overnighting a new Attitude with Saturday delivery - after he'd overnighted the 4.73 replacement Edge for me today. Not like it's his fault or anything, but he has really gone out of his way. Hopefully I'll be in business with the second Attitude I get. If not, I'm going to deal straight through Edge and make them VERY aware of their product issues. Good luck...Edited by: Joe E
DIESEL 5 10-03-2003, 10:53 PM Oh so I'm not alone.
Got mine today pluged everthing truck starts fine, but there is nothing on the screen http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Confused.gif. I can change power levels with the attitude, but I can't see anything on the screen. The only way I can confirm the levels is with "PRNP"http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Confused.gif. I'm getting also a replacement tomorrow, just have to wait and see I guess.
DIESEL 5 10-03-2003, 11:31 PM I wonder, the only wires I didn't connect are the yellow & red wires that connect to the EGT cable. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Confused.gif
Joe E 10-03-2003, 11:33 PM Edge says the pyro should have nothing to do with it - I specifically indicated I had not hooked up the pyro yet. My display doesn't read RPM, anything...
DIESEL 5 10-03-2003, 11:36 PM Thanks Joe,
Mine has the same problem as yours, the display lights up but there is no data on it. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Angry.gifEdited by: DIESEL 5
gsxr1216 10-04-2003, 10:10 AM My pyro is not hooked either, my display lights up but the values stay at 58 deg EGT and zero boost and zero power level and none of the buttons work at all... I suppose i coul just hook up the pyro without installing it, supposedeldly it makes no difference, but hey you never know.....
Joe E let me know if your new attitude works today, if it does i will tell my guy to send me a new one, wish i had gone with con's instead, he seems a lot more helpful than the guy i'm dealing with.... I got a good price and all, but the service and attitude needs some help......
Joe E 10-04-2003, 11:34 AM I got my new Attitude this morning, ran out and plugged it and ALL IS WELL!!! WOOHOO!!! All functions operate, and everything. Gsxr, send yours in for a replacement. If your dealer isn't cooperative, call Edge directly - they'll take your credit card info just in case they don't get yours back, but won't charge anything as long as they do (this is what they offered me, but Con was very accomodating).
Again for everyone in the market, Con had a GREAT price, and really went out of his way to make this right: I ordered Monday, paid for 2 day air, got the Edge (v4.71) & Attitude on Wed. Attitude didn't work - Edge said said the box needed to be a 4.73 (even though they told Con if it had the green plug it would work). Con got me a new Edge box (v4.73) out next day air. Again, same problem, Edge now said it must be the Attitude. AGAIN (!), Con sent out next day air (Sat delivery no less) a new Attitude, and works now. I would highly recommend Con.Edited by: Joe E
gsxr1216 10-04-2003, 12:11 PM Joe, out of curioisty what was the build date on the back of your bad and good attiutedes???
DIESEL 5 10-04-2003, 12:16 PM Mine says: 9/29/2003
Joe E 10-04-2003, 12:21 PM I don't remember the old date, but it was sometime in early Sept and version I-1.0. The new one is Sept 22 adn the same version number.
Max Power 10-04-2003, 04:32 PM Mine works 110%. Con treated me right! I was lucky enough to get a good one first time. For anyone looking to buy one, check out Con. The price was too good to be true.
DIESEL 5 10-04-2003, 04:32 PM I can't believe this @*#T http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Wacko.gif
Today I got my second "ATTITUDE", it was shipped here next day air Saturday delivery. I decided this time around I'll read all the instructions well and take my time. Sure enough everything lights up, but juice levels stays @ 0, 0-60, 1/4 mile, trans defuel, etc DON'T WORK. I can change the juice levels with the attitude, but I have to confirm it with the "PRNP". If I ended up with 2 faulty units in a row, then I think we have a problem here.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Angry.gif
Edited by: DIESEL 5
gsxr1216 10-04-2003, 06:27 PM Well my display and buttons mysteriously came to life after plugging and unpluging many times....... HOWEVER it still does not work right, the power levels cannot be changed by using the up and down arrows on the attitude, it just stays at zero. I programmed my juice the old way and can verify it with prnrp and the truck grunts 2 times for level 2 even tought the attitude says ZERO..... half the time the buttons do not work, basically all this attitude is good for right now is a overpriced boost and temperature sensor......... Hope the next one i get works.... This is dissapointing for something that took this long to get released. Mine is a build date 9/29/03
On a 2nd note, my juice dealer is boning mehttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Angry.gif, http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Angry.gifhe will not send me a new attitude till i send the juice and attitude i have now back to them first. I told him i wanted to have him put a new attitude in the mail on monday for me and i would put the non working one in the mail on monday back to him basically his response was " if you don't like that policy send all of it back and we will refund your money (plus a 15% restocking fee charge according to the bill of sale..) WTF i waited a month to get this, it don't work and this guy won't send me a new one while mines in transit even thoguh he has all my credit card info.... Wish i had bought from Con's to instead of this BOZO......
Max Power 10-04-2003, 07:16 PM gsxr, I have played around with mine quite a bit. Here is something to try. When you are on the guages screen (the one that displays the guages) press enter REALLY QUICK twice. This will bring you to a new screen that you probably haven't seen before. Something about back down, don't remember exactly. set it to '0' and press enter. Then you might be able to adjust your levels while on the guages screen. I am not sure what it does but if I set mine to 10 for example, it locks my level setting and won't allow me to adjust it. I don't know if it will work for you but it might be worth a try. I don't know what this is supposed to do because it is not documented anywhere and I just stumbled across it by pushing buttons. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif
hdmax 10-04-2003, 07:44 PM I may be making a purchase in Grand Rapids on Saturday, but just in case I don't How would one get in contact with Con? And I wish he would use a different name! Con just sounds like bad news all the wayhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cry.gif

hdmax, I was planning on buying in GR too, but I got anxious and called Con. I had exhanged phone calls with another vendor, who simply recommended I order online, at which point my mind was made up to order from Con. His price was better than I expect to see in GR - I might be wrong, but it was damned good. I agree about his name - I was nervous too but can personally attest for his service. Good guy.
gsxr, that blows. Like I said above, screw your dealer: Call Edge direct (I talked to Matt, twice I think), and tell them what's up, what you've heard, etc, and see if they'll send you one (asap) while you ship yours back. They'll need a cc number, but they won't charge anything as long as they get yours back.Edited by: Joe E
DIESEL 5 10-04-2003, 10:46 PM I bought mine from Con, he is great. The problem is edge.
gsxr1216 10-04-2003, 11:33 PM HDMAX
Con is his real name, not just a business name, he is all good from what i have heard and when i talked to him and everyone has had great things to say about him. whatever you do don't buy from 2D's performance this guy is jerking me around on returning the attitude for a replacement he wants mine back in hand before he sends me a replacement even though he has all my CC info and sent me a non functioning product. Bad customer service, and a hell of attitude (no pun intended) to go with it....... very dissapointing
GOOD NEWS!!!!
don't know exactly why but my attitude now WORKS. i kept fiddling with it when all that worked was the boost screen, no power levels worked with the up down, ETC. i was going to write down exactly what functions worked and what did not for when i talk to Edge on monday, well i changed the backlighting and before i did that the truck was in level 3 (verified prnrp) but attitude said zero, anyway i changed the backlighting and all of a sudden it showed level 3 on the display????? HUH????? well i hit the up down button and sure as chit the numbers went up down have no idea why, i hit menu and i can access all screens now, defueling etc, i put it in level five on the attiutude, and run the PRNRP and sure enough the truck grunts 5 times, got to level three it grunts three times!!! i have no idea what made it work, it really acted like a computer that got locked up and that enter button for backlighting was like ctrl/alt/del and it rebooted. I hooked in my EGT and sure enough it works, far as i can tell everything works now, took it for a test drive it can be changed on the fly, the 0-60 works, the 4 screen display works, it all seems there???
Edge has a 2 year waranty so i think i will keep it a while instead of sending it back right now, if it acts up then i will send it back for a replacement.
Heres where i mounted it, very visable, uses velcro, still need to cut a hole in the firewall so when i park in less than desriable places i can hide it in the console or in the cubby, or maybe stick it somehwere under the dash with velcro, right now its through the door so I'm about out of cable???http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/uploads/A3B_Dcp00882.jpg
Joe E 10-04-2003, 11:46 PM Good deal. Weird.. That's exactly where I mounted mine, and it's pretty convenient - drove around tonight and I think it's pretty good in that spot.
I read on the page that some other guys were also having problems. Wonder what's up. I'll hook up the pyro tomorrow, and hopefully I'll be stylin.
DIESEL 5 10-04-2003, 11:50 PM Thats great gsxr http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif
What I dont understand is why are you guys drilling holes in the firewall http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Confused.gif. There is an opening to the left of the brake pedle. I just pushed the wire through this rubber bushing and hooked it up with the box.
gsxr1216 10-05-2003, 10:14 AM Diesel 5 i will have to look at that hole, still not sure if the cable will be long enough to bo from the top of the fuse panel down to the brake and back up to the top of the dash??? I know that the old "throttle cable" location will work. I'll let you know today, but thanks for the info might save me some drilling!!!!!!!!!
cdoohay 10-05-2003, 02:12 PM Sorry to hear of all the problems, a little egg on Edge's face, So but mine work GREAT. I put mine in the spear cig liter. Took the outlet out and run the bracket throw there. work the plug for the monitor a little don't over tighten it (push in) then pull back a little.
"Con is my name not my game"
sdaver 10-05-2003, 04:48 PM its nice to have edge to fall back on when you cant get the service you need from your dealer.......all the more reason to deal with a reputable dealer.........you might pay a little more but customer service and product familiarity is worth a lot more than a few bucks when the chips are down..........you guys know where I stand on this if not just check my sig...........dave
gsxr1216 10-05-2003, 04:50 PM Well i looked at the hole diesel 5 mentioned, i actually ended ip using the smaller hole towards the center of the truck instead, if you go inside the cab its the one that the throttle wires run out of the cab through. I pulled that boot out lubed it up attached a wire the the attitude cable and pulled it right through the gromet with the factory wiring, one wrap of electrical tape to keep it water tight and it was done, plenty of cable! Ran the wire up the side of teh center console up to the dash where mine is mounted, worked slick!! Thanks for the hint Diesel!
Joe E 10-05-2003, 05:08 PM Well, another issue has popped up - must be ME. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cry.gif
I got around to hooking up the pyro today, only to find that it only reads correctly (ie. less than 2200!!!) IF the braided cable is grounded. Not sure if this is right, but it's the only way the pryo is working. Anyobdy experience this - I know there was someone over on the page with the same problem, so I'm not alone.
BUT, the REAL PROBLEM is that I no longer have power from the box(!!!!!!). I've unhooked the pyro, unhooked the Attitude, and even unplugged the Edge for a couple minutes, and NOTHING!!! I've got it all disconnected cuz I have to take the truck in to the dealer tomorrow for some TSB work, but what the heck!!!
Does anybody know if the Edge or Attitude reads 2200 (once or a few times), if it shuts everything off for a period, or what? If it's unplugged, will the Edge reset itself after a period? I'll call Edge tomorrow, but I probably won't have the truck to play around with until tomorrow night. Ugh - this is insane.Edited by: Joe E
gsxr1216 10-05-2003, 07:11 PM Joe, my pyro is not grounded to anything, i actually only wire tied it to non metal things so it would not rub, reads right all the time, never acts goofy. Once my attitude finally kicked up all circuits and worked right it has acted flawless (hear me knocking on wood!!) i have put over 100 miles on it and about 20 starts and it works fine, hopefully ot will stay that way (fingers crossed)....
As for no power form the box, have you programed it the old way via gear slector and verified its power level via PRNRP?? when my attitude acted stupid (not working right) it would say zero but the truck would confirm the level three setting i did via the manual way.
Hope that helps
Joe E 10-05-2003, 07:22 PM Yeah, I kept confirming the grunts, and it always grunted correctly (to what was set via Attitude - even including L5), but gave no power - this was confirmed by 0-60 sprints being stockish (vs just seat of the pants).
I'm hoping it'll reset itself (being disconnected) by tomorrow. I'll plug in just the Edge first, see if that works. Then add the Attitude, see if I'm still good, and lastly the pyro. I'll call Edge tomorrow during the day and get their position on the pyro wire being grounded, and anything else... It would seem that the pyro should NOT be grounded since it specifically has a rubber shield on the cable.
Anybody else got any additional ideas? TIA.
I'm getting so irritated at all this... It's a full-featured product but way too many people are having TOO MANY problems.
sdaver 10-05-2003, 11:42 PM mine works great(all functions) call your dealer.......or send it back and buy one from a knowledgeable one.....pm me a number I might can help........Im using the probe off of my autometer guage and it works just fine.....going to be online till about 10 pm sunday nite........dave
DIESEL 5 10-10-2003, 12:47 PM Well I got my third ATTITUDE MONITOR this time directly from Aaron at edge products. Pluged it in yesterday and sure enough this one does'nt work either http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Broken Heart.gif. While speaking to Aaron on the phone we tried plugging each monitor (remember I have three now http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Ermm.gif ), each monitor had diffrent problems. Aaron felt that there was nothing wrong with my box, so he sent me yesterday another monitor (NUMBER IV http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cry.gif )overnight. I should have it this morning, I'll let you guys know. I would like to point out that Edge Products and especialy Aaron are realy great and have a wonderfull customer service dept. I would also like to say that there may be some issues with my truck that are effecting the monitor. One last thing before plugging this new monitor, do you guys have any suggestions on how to remove this curse http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Wacko.gif (voodoo, santaria, bbq a rooster on top of my hood, etc...)
Joe E 10-10-2003, 12:52 PM Unplug the Juice box, and run it stock for a little bit. I had a problem where my Juice box zerod out and wouldn't give any power after it got really high EGTs from a default pyro. After running it stock, then plugging in the Juice box, it worked - unlplugging it wasn't enough, had to run it stock.
I know you said the Edge seems fine, but I would take this step just to be 100% sure... Good luck.
DIESEL 5 10-10-2003, 12:54 PM Thanks Joe
