I have just purchased a 06 Silverado 2500 HD crew cab and was wondering if anybody has put running boards on their rigs and which ones they would recommend for others to buy?

The picture (if it actually attached to this post) is a little dark, but might give you the general idea. DeeZee brite finish diamond plate.

Mine are aluminum tread plate that are the same as I put on the fires trucks I build so they are strong.

The AMP research steps are the sickest!!! However if you can't justify $1300 so the misses can get in and out then i would go with N-Fab. Nothing else like them out there. Check out thier Website (http://www.n-fab.com) they are really nice. In cold weather climates though i would recomend getting them plain steel and rhino lining them. Powder coat will not last more than 2 years with the sand/salt.

Luverne makes a nice stainless steel step. I think these are one of the best step type. Luverne, Westin, DeeZee and Putco are some brands that come to mind. Stainless is the way to go, either step or nerf bar. Both are $$pricey. See my garage.

Here is a picture of a white GMC with NFAB chrome powder coat. Construction is heavy duty, but they bolt to body, not frame. I weigh 240 and can jump on them without problem.

You have a lot of choices, good luck.

Luvern 304 stainless wheel to wheel. Love 'em. Never rust and fully protect the paint. More pics in da garage if desired. :)

Mad, did you paint all your trim?

Oh, and I have the westin lighted running boards.

I had an old expedition with the stock ford lighted boards(like the ones that come on Crew Cab SuperDutys but lighted at each end)

My only complaint is that they dont have a very grippy surface.

The Fords stock had an almost sandpaper finish, but were shiny plastic and grippy when wet/snowy.

These are too smooth. I actually think Westin makes the Ford boards as they are almost identical.

They do keep the spray off the rig excelent.

What would be a good coating to make them grippy?
Rhino Liner or Line X? I thought about adding some grip tape.........but thats kinda cheap.
