Hi guys. With fuel prices being what they are ...

Any idea what I can expect towing my new high profile (12' 3") 5er with my '03 2500 HD DMax w/ Allison LT, LB, CC, 4x4 ...

Thanks in advance.

I've got the worse with a V E R Y strong head wind, 7.5mpg. But typically 9-10 as with CStone. I don't recall ever getting out of the 10'smpg. I'm +22000lbs total.

Thanks Neverenuf, that thread pretty much says it all!

I pull a 34' Alpenlite high profile 5er. Fully loaded to about 13K.

Setting my cruise control at 60 mph on my last trip over the Sierra's and back home I averaged 12 mpg. If I move that up to 70 it drops to around 10 mpg. It is a hard pull going over the mountains, and the cruise never kicked off from lack of power. There is no doubt that I could have pulled it much faster, but just wasn't in that big of a hurry.

12'6" tall Tahoe Transport, 8500 lbs empty, about 11.5k as we travel.

Last Trip to So Cal and Back from Boise, ID, 1950 miles and used 196 gallons of fuel.

Averaged about 60-65 on the 2 lane and 70 on interstate. That's about normal for me. I can get better if I baby it from stoplights and stuff, but what's the point.

Pull a 30' Sierra that is 12'3", probably 10-11k as I pull it. On the interstate I set the cruise on about 72 and get 9+.

My pick on the Dmax's is limited range. Folks buy these trucks to pull which is going to reduce the mileage by half. These trucks need to come from the factory with a 40+ gallon fuel tank and a big opening to fill.

Unloaded I get 20+ on the highway running a Hypertech in the highest setting. I pull the trailer with it set on the 55HP boost.

Ditto on the small fuel tank opening. I can attest to the PIA it is, have made 4 round trips, Ohio to Florida so far.

Those of you who tow will really appreciate the transferflow 45-gallon replacement tank and big neck filler. I just had both installed in advance of a two-week camping trip this June. Heading out from Michigan to Flagstaff, AZ. With a usable 40 gallons my towing range should be 400 plus miles. Looking forward to having the option of being a little more chosey on where I buy diesel during my trip.

The 700 mile range between fillups when running empty is great, too.

I tow trailer in the avtar with a second trailer for the bikes and have averaged 11.7 mpg over 5000 miles. Each individual trip has ranged from 10.1 to 12.5 mpg. Whole lot better than my previous gasser....

Worst I have ever gotten with my 30' Thor at about 9,000lbs. was 9.5 MPG. That was westbound I40 into California bucking the grades and a headwind. Best is 12 MPG. I usually cruise at 75MPH with the Juice on level 2. I have no idea what I would get if I slowed down!!!

How many miles are you guys racking up pulling with juice? I've made one Arizona trip (stock) with no complaints except I'm either in 4th turning 3000 or 5th turning 2200 +/-. I think the juice would keep me in 5th but I'm concerned about the long term effects. Any issues with warantee work? I get a pretty steady 8mpg pulling.

Thanks

Pulled probably 15000 miles pulling and 55000 mi not pulling with juice on leval 2 and no issues whatsoever. Get a pyro and pull hard. Juice on 2 it only downshifts when it absolutly has to.

Cheers

I've pulled probably 8,000 miles with the juice set on level 2. No problems. Holds 5th for most interstate grades running 75MPH. The Furd and Dogde guys look at you funny as you blow by them.

http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/uploads/244_TT1.jpgJust returned from a 6400 mile month on the road towing my 9000 lb 12'2" high fifth wheel. Started the trip with 4800 miles on the truck, and finished with 11, 200. I usually drive at 70 mph and averaged 11 mpg. This includes the Rockies as well as the flatlands, and a lot of winds. Quite an improvement from my previous 7.4 vortec.http://dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big%20Smile.gif Edited by: Crashdummy
