the only tools that can do a true "fastlearn" are a Tech II and the allison software, but I believe they are working on this feature. It's still a REALLY good idea to do a fastlearn, and it's in Joe's instructions as a must have. I know personally of two trannies grenading and the final analysis was that a fastlearn was never done on it and it DID have devistating results.

just remember once they know your tranny has been modified the know it's been modified, if you catch my drift.

I hate to sound ignorant but a little info please... what are taps?? and why is the fast learn feature so important?? and will I need to do a fast learn after I install my Transgo Jr. kit??

Taps are Target Apply Pressure Settings, I think. They determine how the tranny shifts through each gear. The fast learn cycles through the gears while you are sitting with the truck running and your foot on the break, and it checks to see how much line pressure it has.

All this stuff is fed into the allison tcm and it calculates how to shift the truck off of this data.

Its my understanding that only a dealer can perform the fast learn function or will I be able to do it with EFI live when it becomes avail for my LBZ.

i took mine to the dealer cost me like 65.00 for the tech11
at some point you might be able use efi check back when they get the software for the lbz

Trying to figure out the Fast Learn with TechII on a test bench is a pain because of the limits imposed in the TechII software, it just wont allow it without going to great lengths to simulate a running engine and a trans with everything hooked up. We will get the functions in but it will take a fair amount of messing around to do so.

Cheers,
Ross

SO... Does that mean i should wait a while to get my SunCoast trans kit, etc? I was planning on waiting about a month anyhow - but if EFI Live that i just received my kit for isn't capable yet of doing the 're' programming (or setting it to reprogram or whatever) - i should wait. I'd be sick if i lost a brand new transmission because of not having ran some program against the TCM....

I'm more than willing to wait and i'm not complaining, so please dont mis-understand.... i'm simply chomping at the bit to run the Race tune, and i don't dare until i get the tranny done.... so... you see the vicious cycle i'm in :-)

Thanks!
