I just bought this truck in Phoenix last week... Unfortunately I am in Japan and won't be able to get started on the many mods I have learned about on this board for a while.

One thing I was looking at was the EGR block. Based on this picture (also in my garage.... cant figure out how to post), I am assuming I do not have the EGR system as the solenoids associated with it are not where they should be. True statement?

pic wont display...if you have a tower on top of the intake plenum then you have an egr. also look @ the vin, if "s" is the 8th character (i think its 8th, someone correct me if im wrong) you have an egr system, "f" then you have a non egr.

This did not come out of the bible but chances are ovewhelmingly good that if your truck has the 8 bolt wheels and hubs you will have the "F" engine that has no EGR. Chev/GM made two classes of 2500 trucks. The 8600 GVW and larger trucks with the 8 bolt hubs were exempt from some of the emissions regulations and therefore built with no EGR system.

Great, so that means that if I use a spring type manual boost controller (after installing the required guages), I can eliminate my vacuum pump!

Confirmed via VIN # that it is indeed an "F" engine w/o EGR.
