: Battery light comes on while driving

Hey guys - Wondering if anyone can help me out.

Last November I installed a second alternator along with two Red Top Optimas. About two months ago my battery light came on while driving. It only stayed lit for about 3 seconds, then went out. It was at this time I noticed that the voltage guage was reading about a tick less than it usual. I didn't think much of it. The truck continued to start fine and run perfectly.

It has since come on about three more times, the most recent time it stayed on for about 10 seconds. I checked voltage and it was at about 14.2-14.3. I pretty sure it was higher before when I checked it after installing the second alternator. The light seems to come on when it's hot out and I have been running the AC for awhile. The voltage guage actually reads a bit higher when the truck is first started, then seems to dip back down a tick when warm.

I have a code of PO622 (not sure if that has anything to do with it), and I don't get an SES. Where do I start to look for problems?

Thanks for any help.

Start with a lose battery connection and make sure every thing else is tight ....

And

Thanks Mac. I'll take a look at connections tomorrow.

Don't bother. my truck came with dual alts and i've got that message since i first bought it. from what i have been told it is just a bug in the diagnostic routine. i just ignore it now

Nick - That's interesting, I've never heard of that before, but it is good to know.

Thanks

i just think of it as a reminder that my dual alts are still there.. i know for a fact there is different code in the computer when you have dual alts. until you brought it up i thought my problem was isolated to the few trucks like mine that came with dual 105's. but maybe that's not the case anymore. i know gm had delayed LLY orders with dual alts so maybe they just have a bug.. i took it to my stealer once and they just shrugged and cleared the codes-big whoop.. thanks for wasing my time... it just makes my truck uniquehttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Embarrased.gif
