It mentions some very good facts about water in fuel, condensation and 2 micron filtering. It also goes into how to build a tank-recirculating filter. It sure convinced me to get supplemental filtering

I think I am going to go the route of a separate system circulating the fuel from and back to the tank. This will also keep the gunk from settling in the bottom of the tank.

I did it the way you want to. No problems at all and it was very easy but a little messy. It is a two man job to drop the tank to work on it.

Good article but again, it *is* possible to minimize free water and the resultant microbial infestation; emulsify the water continuously, keeping it "locked up", chemically. Sludge, varnish, corrosion are then also minimized...


The use of the wrong diesel fuel additive or no additization can/will exacerbate the free water situation, creating exactly the situation described in the article; an absolute microbial dinner feast, acid by-products, dead bodies galore, corrosion, etc. etc..

Great article. Seemed to covered all the bases. A wrap around fuel tank/fuel filter sounds like a great solution as the fuel tank return path typically doesn't have the flow to clear accumulating tank bottom dwellers such as sludge, dead bodies, and particles.


I'm not clear about the risks of emulsified water getting to the injectors. Isn't this the reason GM doesn't recommend emulsifiers?
