Here is my project for this weekend - as long as I have time. I plan on cutting the hood and mounting them just in from of the firewall and just to the outside of the grooves in the hood. I think they will get the best flow and still look half decent there. What do you guys think?

i think if you used that thing in your avatar you could wrap this project up in a few seconds. why spend all day doing it. it's hard to tell what the vents look like. maybe lay them on the hood and post it for us...... Ed

a friend of mine has a utility body with a 454. The truck used to be an amubulance. It has louvres in the hood very similar (if not the same) to what you have in that pic. I think it looks cool. A little retro, but cool.

They are GNX reproduction fender vents. It is too dark to take a picture tonight so I will get one tomorrow on where I plan to mount them.
That big bangstick is getting some use a week from Saturday. I am going to a 50cal fun shoot just West of Edmonton. 2nd annual shoot. Last year was a blast (except for the ex military sniper handing my azz to me in the competition) I can't wait.

Actually :cool2: , in the engine compartment anyway.
Would there be any problem here with rain water coming in from the top?

Last time I did something like that I never had a clear windshield again!-:t It always had a fog of something condensing on it. Try removing the seal at the rear of the hood to body. It may give you a hint of what could be instore!
Or am I just getting too old?
Kind Regards

We live in the most dry area of Canada here. I do not think that condensation will be an issue but I do understand where you are coming from. It does not rain here either. We average just over 1" of seasonal rain in this area - the farmers hit the jackpot if they get a couple of thunderstoms that dont hail them out in early summer. The little bit of snow or rain dropping in there will not be an issue.
I got the pair of vents off eGay for 50 bucks. They are a little rough but a bit of light sanding will clean them up easily. They are Buick Grand National GNX fender vent reproductions.
